DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the release of a new report<\/a> prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee detailing Russia\u2019s interference in the 2016 election, including its targeting of African-American voters and its attempts to suppress turnout among Democrats:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is even more proof that the Russian government and the Republican Party shared a common goal in 2016: suppressing Black voter turnout to get Donald Trump over the finish line. The threat of foreign interference in our elections is real, it is dangerous, and it continues to this day. Anyone who refuses to protect our democracy from Russian interference is either willfully ignorant or complicit. The lack of a strong response from President Trump and Republicans in Congress shows how weak and unfit they are to lead. Democrats believe we should safeguard our democracy from foreign adversaries, and we will keep fighting to make sure our elections are fair and secure.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
