The Trump administration escalated its attack on the Affordable Care Act this week, putting into question the health care of millions of Ohioans, including as many as 5 million<\/a> citizens with pre-existing conditions who could have been denied coverage before the ACA. While health care continues to be the top issue for Ohio voters, Republicans in the Buckeye State refuse to stand up for their constituents against Trump\u2019s relentless assault on their access to affordable, quality health care.<\/p>\n

Ohioans continue to cite health care as their number one issue.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cleveland.com<\/a>: \u201cHealth care is a big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WKYC<\/a>: \u201c…A plurality of Ohio Democrats believe health care is the top issue\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Governor DeWine strongly opposes the ACA and said Ohioans \u201cdon\u2019t need to worry\u201d about the Trump administration\u2019s effort to invalidate the law.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Politifact<\/a>: \u201cDeWine was a strong opponent of the Affordable Care Act, joining a lawsuit to fight against it in 2011. DeWine argues his opposition was over the individual mandate, but if the lawsuit had prevailed, it would have struck down a law that guaranteed coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Statehouse News Bureau<\/a>: \u201cPresident Trump\u2019s administration wants the federal courts to do what Congress didn\u2019t \u2013 overturn all parts of the Affordable Care Act. But Gov. Mike DeWine says Ohioans with pre-existing conditions don\u2019t need to worry.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for other Ohio Republicans, they have remained silent and refuse to stand up for their constituents against Trump\u2019s health care assault.<\/p>\n

Congressman Joyce<\/a>: \u201cAsked a number of questions Tuesday about the lawsuit, Joyce deflected.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Attorney General Yost<\/a>: \u201cDave O\u2019Neil, a spokesman for Yost, declined to comment on any aspect of the Trump administration\u2019s decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congressman Turner<\/a>: \u201cTurner didn\u2019t respond to most of cleveland.com<\/a>\u2019s questions, offering only a brief statement on pre-existing conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congressman Gonzalez<\/a>: \u201c[Gonzalez] did not comment on the lawsuit or the Trump administration\u2019s decision in a Tuesday statement.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congressman Stivers<\/a>: \u201cSteve Stivers, NRCC chair until recently, won\u2019t comment on DOJ calling for ACA to be struck down, says he hasn\u2019t seen it\u201d<\/p>\n
