MAGA Republicans this week found new lows with their extremism, hypocrisy, chaos, and \u2014 as President Biden would call it \u2014 malarkey. In case you missed it: Kevin McCarthy showed everyone the speakership truly belongs to Donald Trump, Tim Scott doubled down on his support for gutting Social Security and Medicare, Vivek Ramaswamy said he is open to being convinced of the constitutionality of a national abortion ban, Ron DeSantis defended new education standards that will require schools to teach children that some enslaved people benefited from slavery, Nikki Haley vowed to support Trump if he wins the Republican nomination, and Scott and Mike Pence once again called to ban abortion nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump is calling on House Republicans to exact political revenge for his two impeachments, and Speaker-in-name-only Kevin McCarthy is following Trump\u2019s orders and even fundraising off this political stunt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s a political escalation, urged on by Trump, after his own two impeachments. \u2026 Now, as the Republican party\u2019s frontrunner for the nomination to take on Biden in 2024, Trump has long seethed over his impeachments at the hands of House Democrats. McCarthy has suggested the Trump impeachments could be expunged, as proposed by Stefanik and Greene. But Trump wants Biden to face similar impeachment charges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cMcCarthy makes most direct impeachment threat against Biden to date\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sahil Kapur, NBC News<\/a>: \u201cSpeaker McCarthy floats an \u2018impeachment inquiry\u2019 into President Biden in a text message to supporters, mentioning unproven allegations and adding a link to give money to his political operation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tim Scott doubled down on his plan to slash essential programs that hardworking families and seniors rely on.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201cWe also have to look at the overall entitlement state of our nation. … In order for us to tame the tiger, we\u2019re going to have to take a serious look at the overall entitlement state that we have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vivek Ramaswamy became the latest 2024 Republican to pander to anti-abortion extremists by saying he\u2019s open to being convinced of the constitutionality of a national abortion ban.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramaswamy<\/a>: \u201cI remain open minded to any constitutional scholar convincing me of the legal basis for the federal government, which I believe has no authority to codify Roe v. Wade<\/em> into law, to codify a federal abortion ban into law either. I remain open minded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even after facing bipartisan opposition to Florida\u2019s new, extreme education curriculum standards, Ron DeSantis shamelessly doubled down and argued in favor of a curriculum that claims some African Americans benefited from slavery.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is intensifying his efforts to de-emphasize racism in his state\u2019s public school curriculum by arguing that some Black people benefited from being enslaved and defending his state\u2019s new African American history standards that civil rights leaders and scholars say misrepresents centuries of U.S. reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018They\u2019re probably going to show that some of the folks that eventually parlayed, you know, being a blacksmith into doing things later in life,\u2019 DeSantis said on Friday in response to reporters\u2019 questions while standing in front of a nearly all-White crowd of supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikki Haley flip-flopped on her record <\/strong>once again<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 promising to support Donald Trump if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee despite suggesting the GOP would move on without him just two years prior. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Kernen, Squawk Box<\/a>: \u201cWould you support [Trump] if he gets the nomination?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley: \u201cI would support him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-abortion extremists Tim Scott and Mike Pence doubled down on their calls for a national abortion ban.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201cI would encourage and fight for a 15-week limit of abortion in our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
