In response to 2024 Republicans\u2019 latest cattle call at the Iowa Republican Party\u2019s annual Lincoln Day Dinner, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat a grand finale for an absolute dumpster fire of a week for the 2024 Republican primary field. Tonight\u2019s Lincoln Day Dinner showcased exactly why the Republican field has devolved into a battle over whether slavery was actually bad \u2013 because they all share the same agenda and are desperate to find some kind of new extreme plank to get an edge. From political stunts to railing against schoolchildren\u2019s freedom to learn the true history of our country and doubling down on a national abortion ban, 2024 Republicans made clear tonight that whoever the nominee is, they are guaranteed to push an agenda too dangerous and out of touch with hardworking American families.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s how the week shaped up for Republicans:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump forced Speaker-in-name-only Kevin McCarthy to do his bidding by pushing a political stunt in Congress this week \u2013 floating a baseless and ridiculous impeachment inquiry into President Biden. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s a political escalation, urged on by Trump, after his own two impeachments. \u2026 Now, as the Republican party\u2019s frontrunner for the nomination to take on Biden in 2024, Trump has long seethed over his impeachments at the hands of House Democrats. McCarthy has suggested the Trump impeachments could be expunged, as proposed by Stefanik and Greene. But Trump wants Biden to face similar impeachment charges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cMcCarthy makes most direct impeachment threat against Biden to date\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sahil Kapur, NBC News<\/a>: \u201cSpeaker McCarthy floats an \u2018impeachment inquiry\u2019 into President Biden in a text message to supporters, mentioning unproven allegations and adding a link to give money to his political operation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tim Scott doubled down on his extreme agenda of gutting essential programs that hardworking families and seniors across the country rely on.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201cWe also have to look at the overall entitlement state of our nation. … In order for us to tame the tiger, we\u2019re going to have to take a serious look at the overall entitlement state that we have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vivek Ramaswamy became the latest 2024 Republican to fall in line with the definitive litmus test of the GOP primary by claiming he\u2019s open to being convinced of the constitutionality of a national abortion ban.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramaswamy<\/a>: \u201cI remain open minded to any constitutional scholar convincing me of the legal basis for the federal government, which I believe has no authority to codify Roe v. Wade<\/em> into law, to codify a federal abortion ban into law either. I remain open minded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron DeSantis argued in favor of a curriculum that claims some African Americans benefited from slavery \u2013 and doubled down on these extreme lies without shame.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is intensifying his efforts to de-emphasize racism in his state\u2019s public school curriculum by arguing that some Black people benefited from being enslaved and defending his state\u2019s new African American history standards that civil rights leaders and scholars say misrepresents centuries of U.S. reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018They\u2019re probably going to show that some of the folks that eventually parlayed, you know, being a blacksmith into doing things later in life,\u2019 DeSantis said on Friday in response to reporters\u2019 questions while standing in front of a nearly all-White crowd of supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikki Haley flip-flopped her record on Donald Trump <\/strong>once again<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 promising to support him if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee despite suggesting the GOP would move on without him only TWO YEARS ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Kernen, Squawk Box<\/a>: \u201cWould you support [Trump] if he gets the nomination?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley: \u201cI would support him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-choice extremists Tim Scott and Mike Pence are not letting up on their crusade against women\u2019s reproductive freedom across the country \u2013 doubling down on calls for a national abortion ban. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201cI would encourage and fight for a 15-week limit of abortion in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
