As Tim Scott releases his education plan, DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa released the following statement:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTim Scott has spent his career working to defund public education and gut programs that millions of students across the country rely on, all to divert taxpayer dollars to wealthy private schools. Our students, teachers, and parents deserve better than Scott and MAGA Republicans\u2019 extreme agendas that would devastate public education and harm education across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Scott supports a national school choice voucher program that would siphon money from public schools \u2013 a position fitting for someone who lauded Trump education secretary Betsy DeVos as a \u201cvisionary leader.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201cSecond thing we do is start a national school choice challenge where we take the Title I money that comes from the federal government, the Title II money that comes from the federal government\u2026 and we let parents have a choice so their kids have a chance.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities<\/a>: \u201cSchool vouchers raise the risk of harm to students, do little to expand opportunity, and cut funding to public schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Scott<\/a>: \u201c[Betsy DeVos] is a visionary leader who believes education is the key to the American Dream, and I know she will help take the Department of Education to the next level.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Scott pushed to take money away from public schools that protect transgender students.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cSen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on Tuesday introduced legislation to withhold federal funding from schools with transgender support policies that do not require faculty or staff to obtain parental consent before changing a student\u2019s name or pronouns on school records\u2026 The measure would also prevent young transgender students from using school facilities like restrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity if their use of those accommodations is not first approved by their parents.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
