Joe Manchin of West Virginia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1I3ndyhfHAnHn52ZqzlEBXvB6pDkKYVmU\/view\"><strong>DeSantis<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cYou know, the good thing is I think there&#8217;s a pretty clear path to being able to reverse a lot of this stuff. The things he&#8217;s doing through executive order, you could reverse right away. But even what they did with the Inflation Reduction Act, they passed that via budget reconciliation in the Senate. So with 50 votes, I think, you know, we win the presidency, I&#8217;m pretty sure we would win the Senate and keep the House. And so at that case, what they put in by reconciliation, you could repeal by reconciliation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/18SsgVlGlbthtEhqvzHNOtUMjwVkSqZ-_\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Scott<\/strong><\/a>:<strong> <\/strong>\u201cThe third thing I would do is I would simply eliminate the IRA, the Inflation Reduction Act, which of course is a lie from the pit of hell. \u2026 I would eliminate the vast majority, if not all, of the green energy credits. I would eliminate every single one that I could from an executive perspective. But I would also engage Congress to reverse that legislation.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/nikki-haley-vows-cut-bidens-disastrous-energy-policies-increase-u-s-oil-production\">Fox News<\/a>: \u201cGOP presidential candidate Nikki <strong>Haley<\/strong> plans on cutting down President Biden\u2019s \u2018disastrous\u2019 energy policies as well as bringing oil production back to the United States, if she is elected to the Oval Office in 2024. Haley, who previously served as the governor of South Carolina, shared her energy plan with Fox News Digital ahead of her formal announcement in Texas on Thursday. \u2026 The GOP candidate also slammed Biden\u2019s green energy policies, saying she would \u2018roll back Biden\u2019s wasteful green energy subsidies and regulations.\u2019 Haley specified that a number of subsidies in the Inflation Reduction Act could cost as much as $1.2 trillion along with a number of \u2018Biden administration rules and regulations that would hamstring our oil and gas industries,\u2019 citing Biden\u2019s power plant regulations and his crackdown on gas-powered cars.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1UJ0d6kdMJ7cbLBA1RGCFsuGulw3jOGCN\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Ramaswamy<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWe still have a spending crisis in this country. The point of these [debt ceiling] negotiations should be to actually address the fiscal crisis, not to window dress around it. You want to take the funding for the IRS, moving it from $80 billion to $70 billion while still leaving the hit squad intact. That doesn&#8217;t really change anything. Work requirements for Medicaid recipients, the Inflation Reductions Act&#8217;s pork fest for clean energy tax credits, none of that&#8217;s really changed.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mike_Pence\/status\/1559632771819225090?s=20\"><strong>Pence<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cIn yet another policy failure of the Biden Administration, the Inflation Reduction Act just signed into law undermines incentives to create new life-saving drugs through government-imposed price caps on prescription drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kark.com\/news\/politics\/gov-hutchinson-comes-out-against-biden-backed-inflation-bill\/\">KARK<\/a>: \u201cIn a statement Thursday, Gov. Asa <strong>Hutchinson<\/strong> came out in opposition to the Inflation Reduction Act, currently under debate in the senate. The act, a significant part of the Biden presidential agenda, puts billions of dollars into energy extraction and IRS enforcement, as well as health care reforms in Medicare drug pricing and Affordable Care Act extension. Hutchinson said he was joining 21 other governors in opposition to the legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MAGA Republicans in Congress want to rip away provisions that are already lowering the costs of lifesaving medication for seniors.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/3678314-senate-republican-bill-would-repeal-dem-drug-pricing-law\/\">The Hill<\/a>: \u201cSenate Republicans on Friday introduced a bill that would roll back the drug pricing reforms included in the sweeping Inflation Reduction Act, including the measures allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and capping annual drug expenses for many seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe bill allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices for the first time in the program\u2019s history. It also placed a $2,000 out-of-pocket cap on annual drug costs for seniors on Medicare, as well as a $35 monthly cop for insulin. \u2026 If passed, the bill states it would make it so that the drug pricing measures in the Inflation Reduction Act \u2018had never been enacted.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2024 Republicans are hellbent on slashing essential benefits hardworking Americans and seniors rely on, such as Social Security and Medicare.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/02\/09\/trump-desantis-biden-social-security-medicare\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cHis avowed stance, however, is at odds with <strong>Trump\u2019s <\/strong>own record as president: Each of his White House budget proposals included cuts to Social Security and Medicare programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/newsletter\/02\/09\/2023\/do-2024-republicans-have-a-tea-party-problem\">Semafor<\/a>: \u201cDuring his time in Congress, meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron <strong>DeSantis <\/strong>voted for a series of budget resolutions crafted by the conservative Republican Study Committee that would have voucherized Medicare for new beneficiaries, slowed Social Security cost of living increases, and raised the retirement age for both programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1683858962331111426?s=20\"><strong>Scott<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWe also have to look at the overall entitlement state of our nation. &#8230; In order for us to tame the tiger, we\u2019re going to have to take a serious look at the overall entitlement state that we have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/02\/09\/trump-desantis-biden-social-security-medicare\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cNikki <strong>Haley, <\/strong>the former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador who is planning to announce her own presidential bid this month, also praised Ryan\u2019s Medicare proposal at the time and said lawmakers should examine Medicare and Social Security spending to address federal debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018What they need to be doing is looking at entitlements,\u2019 Haley said in a 2010 interview on Fox News. \u2018Look at Social Security. Look at Medicaid. Look at Medicare. Look at these things, and let\u2019s actually go to the heart of what is causing government to grow, and tackle that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/05\/15\/us\/politics\/pence-2024-preparations.html\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201cMr. <strong>Pence<\/strong> says Social Security and Medicare must be trimmed back as part of any serious plan to deal with the national debt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2011\/09\/audio-chris-christie-koch-brothers-seminar\/\"><strong>Christie<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019re going to have to reduce Medicare benefits. We\u2019re going to have to reduce Medicaid benefits. We\u2019re going to have to raise the Social Security age. We\u2019re going to have to do these things. We\u2019re going to have to cut all types of other government programs that some people in this room might like.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The entire 2024 GOP presidential field has cheered for Trump\u2019s unpopular tax scam that lines the pockets of the ultra-wealthy at the expense of the middle class \u2014 and they want to build on this extreme MAGA economic agenda if elected.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1671314085445509122\"><strong>Trump<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>on whether his second-term tax policies would echo those of his first term: \u201cYeah, and I\u2019d do even more taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2023\/08\/14\/watch-cnbcs-full-interview-with-florida-governor-ron-desantis.html\"><strong>DeSantis<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cThe current rates that are due to expire, we want to keep those rates in place.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Sullivan: \u201cYou\u2019d keep those cuts going?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DeSantis: \u201cYeah, we don\u2019t want to see increases in taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/05\/22\/exclusive-tim-scott-2024-100-percent-not-two-man-race-between-trump-desantis\/\"><strong>Scott<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cThat 2017 tax reform bill\u2014I was one of the four key authors of that bill. I\u2019m excited about continuing to extend and making permanent those tax cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1668673083501342720\"><strong>Haley<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWell, I think what I\u2019d like to see is us go back to what Trump had under the tax cuts under him \u2026 I was there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1669111010525958149\"><strong>Pence<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWe got to make the Trump-Pence tax cuts permanent. That&#8217;s got to happen in 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1701294031274385527?s=20\"><strong>Christie<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cFirst of all, we need to extend the Trump tax cuts. I think those need to be extended.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1684928904539283456\"><strong>Ramaswamy<\/strong><\/a> on making permanent or expanding the Trump tax cuts: \u201cI\u2019d go a little further, Larry, than that, to be honest with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.valleynewslive.com\/content\/misc\/Governor-Doug-Burgum-on-Vice-President-Pence-478179103.html\"><strong>Burgum<\/strong><\/a> in 2018: \u201cI believe in these economic policies, I believe the tax bill is a great thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AsaHutchinson\/status\/958544484689678338?s=20\"><strong>Hutchinson<\/strong><\/a> in 2018: \u201c\u200b\u200bPresident Trump&#8217;s #SOTU speech was good news for Arkansas as conservative policy changes in D.C. have led to tax cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Republican presidential hopefuls have long records of wanting to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, which would send many hardworking families\u2019 health care costs skyrocketing. <\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2019\/10\/14\/768731628\/trump-is-trying-hard-to-thwart-obamacare-hows-that-going\">NPR<\/a>: \u201cThe very day President <strong>Trump<\/strong> was sworn in \u2014 Jan. 20, 2017 \u2014 he signed an executive order instructing administration officials \u2018to waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay\u2019 implementing parts of the Affordable Care Act, while Congress got ready to repeal and replace President Obama&#8217;s signature health law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/politics-government\/article124504434.html\">Miami Herald<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Mike <strong>Pence<\/strong>: &#8216;The first order of business is to repeal and replace Obamacare\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/florida-politics\/buzz\/2018\/12\/18\/obamacare-critics-rubio-desantis-and-scott-mum-on-what-can-replace-imperiled-health-care-law\/\">Tampa Bay Times<\/a>: \u201c<strong>DeSantis<\/strong>, as a Congressman, voted to repeal the law over and over again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scott.senate.gov\/issues\/health-care\"><strong>Scott<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cI will continue to work towards the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/nikki-haley-stands-key-issues-rcna70838\">NBC News<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Haley<\/strong> opposed efforts to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act (South Carolina remains just one of 11 states that hasn\u2019t expanded Medicaid to allow more Americans to have health insurance).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/05\/11\/us\/politics\/youngkin-virginia-governor-race.html\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Youngkin<\/strong> said it was \u2018a sad thing\u2019 that Virginia had expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2024 Republicans have railed against President Biden\u2019s American Rescue Plan, which included historic steps to reduce child poverty in America.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/01\/12\/desantis-spending-priorities-financed-washington-dolars\/9174969002\/\">Tallahassee Democrat<\/a>: \u201cLast year, <strong>DeSantis <\/strong>also said of the American Rescue Plan, \u2018In some respects, it\u2019s Washington at its worst.\u2019 He called the package a \u2018Christmas tree,\u2019 filled with dollars sought by Democratic interest groups.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nikkihaley\/status\/1502698485019287555\"><strong>Haley<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cOne year after Biden signed Democrats\u2019 $1.9 trillion Covid \u2018relief\u2019 bill he\u2019s pushing through another $1.5 trillion in government spending. When will Democrats admit their out-of-control spending is fueling inflation?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/radio.foxnews.com\/2022\/06\/17\/chris-christie-on-biden-saying-inflation-worse-everywhere-except-here-looks-like-a-fool-not-talking-about-reckless-spending\/\"><strong>Christie<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cAll [Biden] wants to talk about is Vladimir Putin and how he\u2019s caused all the problems in this country and that he didn\u2019t engage in reckless spending while he did that $1.9 trillion American rescue plan. \u2026 This is ridiculous stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salon.com\/2021\/02\/24\/mike-pence-rallies-republicans-to-vote-against-covid-relief-bill-backed-by-a-majority-of-americans\/\">Salon<\/a>: \u201cMike <strong>Pence<\/strong> rallies Republicans to vote against COVID relief bill backed by a majority of Americans\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1171\/vote_117_1_00110.htm\">Roll Call Vote, American Rescue Plan Act of 2021<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Scott<\/strong> (R-SC), Nay\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Every single <\/em><\/strong><strong>Republican member of Congress voted against the Child Tax Credit expansion in the American Rescue Plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/historic-expansion-child-tax-credit-covid-relief-bill\/story?id=76340325\">ABC News<\/a>: \u201cIncluded in the 628 pages of the American Rescue Plan is a change that experts say will prove to be a \u2018historic\u2019 step in reducing child poverty. The proposal calls for a one-year expansion in both the value and scope of the child tax credit to American families, something some studies estimate could lift millions of children out of poverty. The measure would increase the amount of the child tax credit to $3,600 per child under 6 and $3,000 per child between the ages of 6 and 18. That is up from a maximum benefit of $2,000 under the current policy. It also expands the ages of children eligible, which was previously capped at age 17.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut even for Republicans, the measure did not prove to be a sticking point in partisan negotiations over the bill &#8212; which still did not get a single Republican vote in the House or Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Presidential hopeful Tim Scott and his MAGA Republican colleagues have railed against efforts to eliminate junk fees for hardworking Americans \u2014 keeping their costs up instead of providing them relief.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1626260616951259137\"><strong>Scott<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cSo the truth of the matter is that we need solutions for the American people. And it&#8217;s not a bunch of fees that will be eliminated by the president chatting fee control, income control, price control. It sounds more like socialism than free markets and capitalism that led to the lowest level of poverty, frankly, in the history of our country just a few years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/03\/09\/house-hearing-targets-cfpb-over-junk-fees.html\">CNBC<\/a>: \u201cGOP lawmakers in the hearing criticized the Biden administration\u2019s push to eradicate \u2018junk fees,\u2019 largely regulated by the CFPB. Such fees constitute surcharges that companies levy for consumer goods and services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/article\/170818\/house-republicans-defend-junk-fees\">The New Republic<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Technically, junk fees don\u2019t exist, OK? That\u2019s a figment of Rohit Chopra\u2019s imagination,\u2019 Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer told The New Republic on Monday afternoon. \u2018It\u2019s a made-up word for a made-up authority that he\u2019s got,\u2019 continued the Missouri Republican, referring to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn the other hand, during his seven terms in Congress, Luetkemeyer has been on the take for millions in contributions from insurance, financial services, and utilities companies\u2014industries long known to saddle consumers with hidden costs and, to borrow a term, junk fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLuetkemeyer is not alone in raking in campaign cash from industries that Chopra and the CFPB seek to regulate on behalf of American consumers.
