If elected, would you keep personal and\/or corporate tax rates where they are? What\u2019s your tax plan?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DeSantis<\/strong>:&nbsp;\u201cYeah, I think we need to \u2014 the current rates that are due to expire, we want to keep those rates in place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sullivan: \u201cYou keep those cuts going?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DeSantis: \u201cYeah. We don\u2019t want to see increases in taxes, we definitely wanna see things like permanent bonus depreciation, making sure we have full expensing. I think that that\u2019s a really smart thing to do. That\u2019s kind of been eroded over the last few years, but we should do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=ac54ca6116&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sullivan<\/a>: \u201cWhat about macro tax policy, governor? The president wants to roll back the top end to where it was prior at 39.6, it\u2019s now at 37. Would you endorse that or would you keep it at the 37% where it currently is?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Haley<\/strong>:&nbsp;\u201cWell, I think what I\u2019d like to see is us go back to what Trump had under the tax cuts under him. \u2026 I was there.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=510f6ee7f7&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly<\/a>: \u201cSpeaking to Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly,&nbsp;<strong>Pence<\/strong>&nbsp;said if elected, \u2018First thing we\u2019re going to do is make the Trump-Pence tax cuts permanent. Nikki&nbsp;<strong>Haley<\/strong>&nbsp;insists that South Carolina\u2019s corporate income tax must be eliminated to lure jobs to the state. But the state\u2019s 5 percent tax rate on corporations is already lower than the corporate taxes of its Southeastern neighbors and among the lowest in the nation. Asked why eliminating it would help attract jobs, Haley said the state recently lost a company to Florida, which she said doesn\u2019t have the tax. Actually, Florida\u2019s corporate tax rate, at 5.5 percent, is higher than South Carolina\u2019s. What Florida lacks is a personal income tax.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=cea2ae4e63&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>: \u201cA New Jersey millionaire\u2019s tax boost that Republican Governor Chris&nbsp;<strong>Christie<\/strong>&nbsp;vetoed five times will be Democrats\u2019 top priority with their party newly in control of the executive branch, said the highest-ranking state lawmaker. Governor-elect Phil Murphy, the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. multimillionaire who defeated Christie\u2019s lieutenant, Kim Guadagno, on Tuesday has vowed to enact the increase. With that revenue, plus higher corporate taxes and fees from plans to legalize marijuana sales, the strapped state budget will gain $1.3 billion, Murphy has said.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The top 1 percent of earners\u2014about 17,000 residents\u2014provide about 40 percent of the state\u2019s income-tax revenue, according to the New Jersey taxation division. The provision vetoed by Christie would have increased the tax rate on income above $1 million from 8.97 percent to 10.75 percent. That would raise as much as $615 million in annual revenue, according to the state office of legislative services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=5225bc751f&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arkansas Times<\/a>: \u201cUpdated state income tax figures illustrate further how Gov. Asa&nbsp;<strong>Hutchinson\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;preferred income tax cut plan would favor the rich. The state last week said a plan preferred by Hutchinson to streamline tax tables, change marginal rates with a reduction of 14 percent on the tax rate in the highest marginal rate and increase standard deductions shook out this way in an overall reduction of $192 million.* The poorest taxpayers, comprising 38 percent of all taxpayers, would get ZERO in the way of tax cuts. They\u2019d actually see increased tax rates, allegedly to be offset by standard deduction increases.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=c298aa40e5&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Politico<\/a>: \u201cIndiana Republican Rep. Mike&nbsp;<strong>Pence<\/strong>&nbsp;would scrap the current tax system and replace it with a flat tax for all citizens. \u2018The best option, the most pro-growth option is a flat tax. I believe it is time that America adopted a flat tax and scrapped the current system once and for all,\u2019 he said Monday in at the Detroit Economic Club. \u2018It\u2019s fair, it\u2019s simple, it\u2019s effective. It\u2019s an idea whose time has come,\u2019 he said. \u2026 Under a flat tax, all Americans would pay the same percentage of their income in taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=6a6a93e94c&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KRTV<\/a>: \u201cThe entrepreneur made his fortune in the biotechnology industry, founding Roivant Sciences in 2014. The company, which encompassed Axovant, then the highest biotech IPO of its time, is incorporated in Bermuda. \u2018The U.S. tax code is so darn broken that that\u2019s what you ultimately have to do to be able to maximize value for shareholders,\u2019&nbsp;<strong>Ramaswamy<\/strong>&nbsp;said. \u2018What I would prioritize as U.S. president is making sure we have a rational tax code in this country, a 12% flat tax across the board,\u2019 he added when asked if, as president, he would work to prevent companies from going overseas because of taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=54cb867a39&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NPR<\/a>: \u201cKELLY: Glad to have you with us. Do you think there is a real shot at overhauling the tax code?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HURD<\/strong>:&nbsp;Absolutely. I think there is. And I think being able to ensure that Americans have &#8211; keep more money in their pocket and not send it to Washington, D.C., is something that we can accomplish. And there\u2019s broad support for these principles and concept of, you know, of closing some loopholes, lowering the tax rates for individuals and corporation. There is &#8211; there\u2019s broad support across the Republican conference, and there\u2019s also bipartisan support on many pieces of tax reform. You know, there\u2019s legislation that has passed the House before on this topic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2024 MAGA Republicans don\u2019t care that millions of hardworking Americans and seniors rely on Social Security and Medicare, and many are campaigning to end these programs as we know them.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=e0bc2c3d6f&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cHis avowed stance, however, is at odds with&nbsp;<strong>Trump\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;own record as president: Each of his White House budget proposals included cuts to Social Security and Medicare programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=90379082c3d9e6a03baf3f677&amp;id=48807dd5f4&amp;e=633876386d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN<\/a>: \u201cA CNN KFile review of comments from&nbsp;<strong>DeSantis\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;2012 congressional campaign found he repeatedly said he supported plans to replace Medicare with a system in which the government paid for partial costs of private plans or a traditional Medicare plan. We still have a spending crisis in this country. The point of these negotiations should be to actually address the fiscal crisis, not to window dress around it. It increases inflation. It does not reduce inflation. It also increases taxes. I would start the process of gutting that legislation. I would eliminate the vast majority, if not all of the green energy credits. I would eliminate every single one that I could from an executive perspective.
