Nikki Haley has promised to follow the Trump agenda of jacking up health care costs for millions of Americans and abandoning 135 million Americans with preexisting conditions, from asthma to diabetes. As governor, Haley used her power to block Medicaid expansion for her constituents, leaving millions of them uninsured, and railed against access to affordable health care. Hardworking American families don\u2019t want to go back to paying exorbitant out-of-pocket costs or see their coverage ripped away so that Nikki Haley can line the pockets of her rich friends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nikki Haley has a yearslong record of attacking the Affordable Care Act and calling to \u201cdefund\u201d it, even though it\u2019s providing over 40 million hardworking Americans with health care who couldn\u2019t otherwise afford it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1VJDbtILOOTspTZX8vdpJllFmGNcncgCL\/view\">Haley<\/a>: <strong>\u201cWe have fought Obamacare in South Carolina as much as we possibly could.<\/strong> We said no to the state exchanges. Haley speaks against Affordable Care Act, SC prepares for key deadline\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Haley vowed to never expand Medicaid coverage as governor of South Carolina \u2013 which left millions of her constituents uninsured and forced them to pay exorbitant out-of-pocket costs to receive essential care.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/nikki-haley-stands-key-issues-rcna70838\">NBC News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cHaley opposed efforts to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act<\/strong> (South Carolina remains just one of 11 states that hasn\u2019t expanded Medicaid to allow more Americans to have health insurance).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220306053705\/http:\/\/abcnewsradioonline.com\/health-news\/gov-nikki-haley-vows-no-medicaid-expansion-in-south-carolina.html\">ABC News Radio<\/a>: \u201cIn her introduction of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference, South Carolina <strong>Governor Nikki Haley vowed to oppose President Obama\u2019s recommendations to expand Medicaid in her state<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BXkZvFiiVtEBYfafH29n_ax8VapZVM8w\/view\">Haley<\/a>: \u2018They\u2019re trying to throw Obamacare and tell us that we have to bust our budgets and expand Medicaid.\u2026 Not in South Carolina. <strong>As long as I am the governor of South Carolina, we will not expand Medicaid<\/strong> on President Obama\u2019s watch. <strong>We will not expand Medicaid ever.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump renewed his efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, saying MAGA Republicans \u201cshould never give up\u201d in their efforts to \u201cterminate\u201d the landmark legislation.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/donald-trump-hopes-to-dismantle-obamacare-if-elected-in-2024\">Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Trump Revives Plan to Dismantle Obamacare if Elected in 2024<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/themessenger.com\/politics\/trump-seriously-looking-at-alternatives-to-obamacare\">The Messenger<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Former President Donald Trump said he is \u2018seriously looking at alternatives\u2019 to Obamacare in a new post on his social media platform Truth Social.<\/strong> He also called it a \u2018low point for the Republican Party\u2019 that lawmakers failed to \u2018terminate\u2019 the health insurance program established by the Affordable Care Act. According to the latest figures this year, more than 40 million Americans rely on the program for those who can&#8217;t afford private plans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/111471975032811076\">Trump<\/a>: \u201cThe cost of Obamacare is out of control, plus, it\u2019s not good Healthcare. <strong>I\u2019m seriously looking at alternatives.<\/strong> We had a couple of Republican Senators who campaigned for 6 years against it, and then raised their hands not to terminate it. It was a low point for the Republican Party, but we should never give up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If a MAGA Republican such as Haley or Trump takes power and repeals the Affordable Care Act \u2013 as many as <\/strong><strong><em>135 million people<\/em><\/strong><strong> with preexisting conditions could have their protections ripped away from them \u2013 opening the potential for insurance companies to discriminate against them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/number-americans-preexisting-conditions-district-116th-congress\/\">Center for American Progress<\/a>: \u201cAccording to new estimates from the Center for American Progress, <strong>135 million people under age 65, or about half of nonelderly people, have a preexisting condition<\/strong> that an insurer could use to discriminate against them if they ever sought coverage through the individual market in the absence of ACA protections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/health-reform\/poll-finding\/5-charts-about-public-opinion-on-the-affordable-care-act-and-the-supreme-court\/\">KFF Poll<\/a>: \u201cWhile partisans are divided over the importance of keeping many provisions of the ACA in place, majorities of Democrats [88 percent], Republicans [62 percent], and independents [73 percent say it is &#8216;very important&#8217; to continue each of these protections for people with pre-existing conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Repealing the Affordable Care Act would be devastating for the millions of Americans who depend on it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jonfavs\/status\/1728919721846952153\">Jon Favreau<\/a>: \u201c<strong>If Trump wins, 40 million people could lose their health care, <\/strong>and insurance companies would get to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions<strong>.<\/strong> If Biden wins, that\u2026won\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/27\/trump-repeal-obamacare\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cBut what\u2019s clear is that an effort to \u2018terminate\u2019 Obamacare is not something Americans are pining for.
