I\u2019m seriously looking at alternatives. We had a couple of Republican Senators who campaigned for 6 years against it, and then raised their hands not to terminate it. I&#8217;m one vote short of health care. I&#8217;ll get health care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-healthcare\/rpt-republican-bill-to-repeal-obamacare-teeters-on-edge-of-collapse-idUSL2N1M600C\/\">Reuters<\/a>: \u201cThe most previous attempt to repeal Obamacare fell one vote short in July, in a humiliating setback for Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nikki Haley has a yearslong record of attacking the Affordable Care Act and calling to \u201cdefund\u201d it, and she vowed to never expand Medicaid coverage as governor of South Carolina.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1QWrsqvEgMqZheYFalXZW61BFiWF6LbUf\/view\">Jack Heath<\/a>: \u201cThey&#8217;re going ahead and saying you would repeal the Affordable Care Act, would you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haley: <strong>\u201cIt&#8217;s not about one small policy of, you know, Affordable Care Act. It&#8217;s about fixing the entire health care system.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1VJDbtILOOTspTZX8vdpJllFmGNcncgCL\/view\">Haley<\/a>: <strong>\u201cWe have fought Obamacare in South Carolina as much as we possibly could.<\/strong> We said no to the state exchanges. We said no to the Medicaid expansion. \u2026 They just turned around and set every state back with this bill that we know did not work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestate.com\/news\/politics-government\/article14441192.html\">Haley<\/a>: <strong>\u201cWhen it came to Obamacare, we didn\u2019t just say \u2018no,\u2019 we said \u2018never.\u2019 \u2026 And we\u2019re going to keep on fighting until we get people like [Senator Tim Scott] and everybody else in Congress to defund Obamacare.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4178700\/nikki-haley-republican-response-state-of-the-union-transcript\/\">Haley<\/a>: <strong>\u201cWe would end a disastrous health care program<\/strong>, and replace it with reforms that lowered costs and actually let you keep your doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/nikki-haley-stands-key-issues-rcna70838\">NBC News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cHaley opposed efforts to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act<\/strong> (South Carolina remains just one of 11 states that hasn\u2019t expanded Medicaid to allow more Americans to have health insurance).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BXkZvFiiVtEBYfafH29n_ax8VapZVM8w\/view\">Haley<\/a>: \u2018They\u2019re trying to throw Obamacare and tell us that we have to bust our budgets and expand Medicaid. \u2026 Not in South Carolina. <strong>As long as I am the governor of South Carolina, we will not expand Medicaid<\/strong> on President Obama\u2019s watch. <strong>We will not expand Medicaid ever.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MAGA Mike Johnson has pushed to repeal the Affordable Care Act and voted against President Biden\u2019s historic Inflation Reduction Act, which is lowering prescription drug costs.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4277402-mike-johnson-everything-to-know-ukraine-israel-abortion\/\">The Hill<\/a>: \u201cAs chair of the conservative Republican Study Commission, <strong>[Johnson] has backed health care proposals that the GOP has espoused for years, including a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikejohnson.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=257\">Press Release, Office of Congressman Mike Johnson<\/a>: \u201cU.S. Rep. Mike Johnson joined 11 other freshman members of Congress in a letter published Tuesday by Fox News urging the U.S. Senate to act on repealing the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/the-gops-feigned-struggle-to-repeal-bidens-signature-achievement\">Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cRep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), a member of House GOP leadership, said \u2018I assume\u2019 Republicans would move to repeal [the Inflation Reduction Act], but indicated it was still early.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Repealing the Affordable Care Act would threaten the health coverage of millions of Americans, and as many as 135 million Americans with preexisting conditions could lose critical protections.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jonfavs\/status\/1728919721846952153\">Jon Favreau<\/a>: <strong>\u201cIf Trump wins, 40 million people could lose their health care, and insurance companies would get to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.<\/strong> If Biden wins, that\u2026won\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2023\/02\/28\/biden-gop-budget-would-put-health-care-on-chopping-block\">Spectrum News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cThe ACA protects more than 100 million people with preexisting conditions from being denied care, plus it requires insurance plans to cover things like preventive care and limit out-of-pocket costs.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/health-reform\/poll-finding\/5-charts-about-public-opinion-on-the-affordable-care-act-and-the-supreme-court\/\">KFF Poll<\/a>: <strong>\u201cMajorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents say it is &#8216;very important&#8217; to continue each of [the Affordable Care Act\u2019s] protections for people with pre-existing conditions.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump and MAGA Republicans\u2019 plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act is overwhelmingly unpopular among voters.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/12\/02\/trump-obamacare-polling-support-00129721\">Politico<\/a>: <strong>\u201cObamacare is even more popular than the last time Trump tried to kill it\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cRoughly three-in-five Americans like the 2010 health care law, even more than when Trump and Republicans in Congress came to the brink of wiping it out. And some of the Affordable Care Act\u2019s better-known provisions \u2014 like protections for preexisting health conditions \u2014 engender even greater support.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[Trump] did more than pick at an electoral scab that party strategists hoped had healed by now. <strong>He threatened to bring back to life a potent electoral issue that contributed significantly to the GOP\u2019s wipeout in the 2018 midterms and on which public opinion has only moved away from Republicans since.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/27\/trump-repeal-obamacare\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cBut what\u2019s clear is that an effort to \u2018terminate\u2019 Obamacare is not something Americans are pining for. <strong>Not only were the GOP\u2019s efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare during Trump\u2019s term historically unpopular, but the law also appears to have gotten more popular since then.<\/strong> \u2026 And when politicians talk of ending health insurance for tens of millions of Americans, dropping coverage of preexisting conditions and cutting Obamacare\u2019s Medicaid funding, things get even dicier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/29\/politics\/obamacare-trump-what-matters\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>: <strong>\u201cObamacare has gotten popular.
