Donald Trump said it himself: Without him, none of the extreme abortion bans being pushed by MAGA Republicans across the country would be possible. With Trump now closing in on the Republican nomination and admitting his support<\/a> for a nationwide ban, we\u2019re reminding voters of the severe consequences of his anti-choice extremism and what is at stake for women across America in this election, state by state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As MAGA Republicans in Michigan and across the country try to rip away women\u2019s freedoms as a result of Donald Trump\u2019s actions to overturn Roe v. Wade, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s support for a nationwide abortion ban would overturn the will of millions of Michiganders who voted to protect abortion rights after Trump\u2019s handpicked justices reversed Roe v. Wade<\/em>. With Trump and his MAGA allies hellbent on a nationwide ban, the stakes of November\u2019s election could not be higher for Michiganders\u2019 rights \u2013 and that\u2019s why they will once again vote to protect their freedoms by reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Michiganders voting to protect abortion rights, MAGA Republicans in the state have not let up on their cruel anti-abortion agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018Gander<\/a>: \u201cMichiganders protected abortion after Roe. Republicans are plotting a reversal.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a high-stakes legal battle before the US Supreme Court over access to abortion medication which threatens to curtail access to the drug\u2014even in states like Michigan,<\/strong> where abortion still remains legal and fully protected under the state Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd even more could be at stake in this year\u2019s elections. Anti-abortion Republicans are hoping to regain complete control of Congress in 2025, and a second Trump term could lead to sweeping, nationwide restrictions on abortion care. Republican operatives have crafted an expansive blueprint that lays out in detail how they intend to leverage virtually every arm, tool, and agency of the federal government to attack abortion access\u2014including by banning and criminalizing access to abortion medication.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is demanding credit for the extreme abortion bans that MAGA Republicans have passed around the country and continues to brag about his efforts to overturn <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump supports a national abortion ban and has an extreme anti-abortion record. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere has to be some form of punishment [for women who have abortions].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. <\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikki Haley said she would sign any nationwide abortion ban and has pledged her support for extreme abortion bans before many women know they\u2019re pregnant. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirsten Welker<\/a>: \u201cWould you support a 15-week federal limit?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley: \u201cI would support anything that would pass.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley<\/a>: \u201cWhatever we can get 60 Senate votes on, isn\u2019t that better than what we have now? And if it\u2019s\u2013 if it\u2019s six weeks, that\u2019s great. If it\u2019s 15 weeks, that\u2019s great.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
