In response to MAGA Mike Johnson <\/em>shamelessly<\/em><\/a> trying to claim he supports IVF after backing legislation that could rip away access to it nationwide, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFacts are facts: the sky is blue, the ocean is wet, and Mike Johnson has spent his entire career pushing an extreme anti-choice agenda including legislation that could rip away access to IVF. Johnson is a terrible liar, trying and failing to run from his own unpopular record working to outlaw abortion nationwide and take away access to IVF from Americans trying to start a family. But the truth is that if given the chance, Johnson and the rest of his MAGA allies will keep putting Americans\u2019 basic rights on the chopping block, from abortion to birth control to IVF treatments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facing backlash for the consequences of their own policymaking, MAGA Republicans, including MAGA Mike Johnson, are attempting to spin their record on IVF. But Johnson <\/strong>literally co-sponsored <\/em><\/strong>the Life at Conception Act, which DOES NOT include any exception for in vitro fertilization \u2013 and could rip away access to IVF treatment from families who desperately want a baby. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cMost House Republicans have cosponsored a bill declaring that life begins from the moment of conception, a position under increased scrutiny after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are \u2018unborn children.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis Congress, 125 House Republicans \u2014 including Speaker Mike Johnson \u2014 have cosponsored the \u2018Life at Conception Act,\u2019<\/strong> which states that the term \u2018human being\u2019 includes \u2018all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe bill does not include any exception for in vitro fertilization (IVF), a reproductive treatment that allows mothers to fertilize several eggs outside the womb in order to increase the chances of a viable pregnancy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cBut with the landmark Roe ruling protecting those rights gone, efforts by conservative lawmakers and judges to advance fetal personhood bills pose a real threat to some fertility treatments, including IVF<\/strong>, reproductive rights advocates say.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s not forget that MAGA Mike Johnson has a long record of refusing to let women make their own health care decisions. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson<\/a>: \u201c\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udea8BREAKING: Late yesterday, the La. Department of Health informed abortion facilities in our state that the right to life has now been RESTORED!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jezebel<\/a>: \u201c[Johnson] expressed hope that Roe v. Wade would someday be overturned, railed against people supposedly \u2018using abortion as birth control\u2019 and appeared to blame school shootings on abortion: \u2018When you break up the nuclear family, when you tell a generation of people that life has no value, no meaning, that it\u2019s expendable, then you do wind up with school shooters.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson is a MAGA minion merely parroting his leader, Donald Trump, who also refuses to own up to his<\/strong> own<\/em><\/strong> role in stopping IVF treatment in Alabama because of HIS hand-picked justices overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
