In response to Republicans choosing Alabama Senator Katie Britt to provide their response to next week\u2019s State of the Union, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans have been running, dodging, and hiding their extreme position against IVF all week, but today they chose to catapult their anti-freedom extremism to center stage by tapping anti-choice extremist Katie Britt to deliver their State of the Union response. Britt should be more concerned about the state of her state, but she has still refused to condemn the devastating court ruling that ripped away the promise of a family for so many Alabamans. Make no mistake: Britt and her fellow MAGA extremists are backing a cruel, dangerous, and unpopular anti-choice agenda that would outlaw abortion nationwide and risk access to IVF for Americans trying to grow their family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katie Britt is an anti-abortion extremist whose far-right position puts IVF treatments at risk. She has refused to say whether she agrees with the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that is stopping IVF, encouraged the overturning of <\/strong>Roe<\/em><\/strong>, and refused to condemn fellow Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville\u2019s shameful blockade of military nominations and promotions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AL.com<\/a>: \u201c[Britt] did not comment on whether she agrees with the court ruling that frozen embryos are \u2018children.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Britt<\/a>: \u201cI am proud to be 100% pro-life. Both my faith and the science tell me that life begins at conception.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AL.com<\/a>: \u201cU.S. Senate Republican candidate Katie Britt has called herself \u2018100% pro-life,\u2019 and said she will fight for anti-abortion measures if she wins the seat.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Britt<\/a>: \u201cMy family and I are praying that the Supreme Court finally overturns Roe <\/strong>this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Britt opposes<\/a> the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, which would enshrine<\/a> abortion rights across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201c[Britt] was nearly as restrained when I asked her about Tuberville\u2019s hold on military promotions in protest of the Biden administration providing service members with abortion access, a blockade that has irritated many Senate Republicans. In fact, she dodged my question entirely when I asked her if her fellow Alabama senator is doing the right thing.<\/strong> After a pause, she criticized the administration\u2019s abortion policy and said it was \u2018critically important\u2019 that Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer take up senior officer promotions on the floor, as he did this week, without ever mentioning Tuberville.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, Senate Republicans blocked basic protections for IVF, while 125 House Republicans \u2013 including Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson \u2013 have supported the Life at Conception Act, which DOES NOT include any exceptions for IVF treatment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cDozens of congressional Republicans have signed onto so-called personhood legislation with no carve-out for embryos in clinics, which, if enacted, would upend how the procedure is practiced in the United States.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make no mistake: Donald Trump made possible the Alabama Supreme Court decision that is stopping IVF treatment \u2013 and he is still bragging about his role in overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and demanding credit for extreme abortion bans across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
