{"id":1031179,"date":"2024-05-05T14:20:25","date_gmt":"2024-05-05T14:20:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/?p=1031179"},"modified":"2024-05-23T19:54:51","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T19:54:51","slug":"dnc-statement-on-missing-or-murdered-indigenous-persons-awareness-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/democrats.org\/news\/dnc-statement-on-missing-or-murdered-indigenous-persons-awareness-day\/","title":{"rendered":"DNC Statement on Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>In observance of Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day,<\/em><strong><em> DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and DNC Native Caucus Chair Clara Pratte released the following joint statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day, we mourn and reflect on the countless untold stories of violence that Native communities face.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For far too long, this nation has deprived Native communities and Tribal Nations of dignity and justice, undermining the humanity of their loved ones who have gone missing or been the victims of violent crime.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Biden-Harris administration recognizes that Indigenous communities have been forced to investigate these horrific disappearances or murders without adequate support and resources for far too long. Under President Biden and Secretary Deb Haaland\u2019s leadership, we have made progress to ensure that every case is met with urgency and effective action.
