In response to the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court\u2019s decision<\/em> in <\/em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, which has led to dangerous abortion bans across the country, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Emilia Rowland released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been two years since Donald Trump succeeded in his plan to rip away reproductive freedoms protected by Roe v. Wade<\/em>, and MAGA Republicans in Congress and in the states have followed Trump\u2019s lead in unleashing an all-out assault on women\u2019s reproductive freedoms with devastating consequences to Americans\u2019 lives, health, and futures. Now, because of Trump, anti-choice extremists from state Houses to the halls of Congress are plotting to take their extremism even further \u2014 pushing a nationwide abortion ban, threatening access to IVF, and restricting contraception. Let\u2019s be clear: the fate of women\u2019s reproductive freedom is on the ballot this November, and the American people will reject Trump and MAGA extremists\u2019 anti-freedom agenda.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Donald Trump brags about getting <\/strong>Roe v. Wade <\/em><\/strong>overturned and paving the way for extreme bans across the country, saying he\u2019s \u201cproud to have done it\u201d and claiming credit for enabling state bans. His campaign has even run paid ads claiming credit for overturning <\/strong>Roe<\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me,<\/strong> and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Trump campaign radio ad<\/a>: “And Trump nominated conservative judges, leading to Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump and his MAGA minions have made it clear that they are willing to strip away reproductive freedoms and ban abortion nationwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cTrump suggests he\u2019d support a national ban on abortions around 15 weeks of pregnancy\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m looking at all [options].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project 2025<\/a>: \u201cFDA should \u2026 Reverse its approval of chemical abortion drugs because the politicized approval process was illegal from the start. \u2026 Now that the Supreme Court has acknowledged that the Constitution contains no right to an abortion, the FDA is ethically and legally obliged to revisit and withdraw its initial approval, which was premised on pregnancy being an \u2018illness\u2019 and abortion being \u2018therapeutically\u2019 effective at treating this \u2018illness.\u2019 The FDA is statutorily charged with guaranteeing the safety and efficacy of drugs and therefore should withdraw this drug that is proven to be dangerous to women and by definition fatally unsafe for unborn children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Atlantic<\/a>: \u201cTheir next goal will be ending legal abortion in America once and for all. \u2026 <\/strong>Their ultimate aim in reviving the Comstock Act is to use it to shut down every abortion facility \u2018in all 50 states.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s top ally in the House, MAGA Mike Johnson, supports banning abortion with NO exceptions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punchbowl News<\/a>: \u201cJohnson doesn\u2019t back exceptions for abortion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I\u2019ve never supported exemptions. It\u2019s a matter of conscience to me. But [Trump] was very clear. He qualified those statements, as well. And he said everybody has to express your own conscience \u2026 It\u2019s a difficult issue in a lot of districts and everybody needs to go and address it \u2026 in an appropriate way. And so far, everybody is.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s allies in the Republican Study Committee have repeatedly attacked access to reproductive health care, including co-sponsoring<\/strong> <\/em><\/strong>the Life at Conception Act, which would ban abortion nationwide and could rip away IVF access from families nationwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cMost House Republicans have cosponsored a bill declaring that life begins from the moment of conception, a position under increased scrutiny after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are \u2018unborn children.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis Congress, 125 House Republicans \u2014 including Speaker Mike Johnson \u2014 have cosponsored the \u2018Life at Conception Act,\u2019<\/strong> which states that the term \u2018human being\u2019 includes \u2018all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe bill does not include any exception for in vitro fertilization (IVF), a reproductive treatment that allows mothers to fertilize several eggs outside the womb in order to increase the chances of a viable pregnancy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joseph Zeballos-Roig, Semafor<\/a>: \u201cThe House GOP Study Committee (largest House GOP bloc) released a budget endorsing the Life at Conception Act, which would provide 14th amendment legal protections at every stage of life. Amounts to near-total ban on abortions with no IVF exceptions\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew Yglesias, Bloomberg<\/a>: \u201cIn case anyone is still covering the IVF question, today’s new Republican Study Committee budget specifically endorses the idea that embryos have the full legal rights of persons under the 14th Amendment.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yglesias<\/a>: \u201cThey’re also backing a bill to ban mifepristone<\/strong> (again, something you could achieve through judicial or executive branch action as well)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson rallied against access to medication abortion and access to telemedicine that provides women with necessary reproductive health care.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson<\/a>: \u201cOne of the things we’re trying to be on the lookout for is the rise, the use of chemical abortions because there\u2019s this move towards telemedicine and off-site medical treatment and that kind of thing. So there will be a push and, you know, <\/strong>the other side will say, \u2018This is very compassionate, what about the evolving nature of medicine, we need to be able to treat people remotely, and so we\u2019ll just mail them a chemical that will induce the abortion\u2019 \u2014 a pill or syringe or whatever it is. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have to be very vigilant about that, the states are going to have to ramp up regulation of off-site medical treatment \u2014 and those are good innovations because it helps a lot of people when you\u2019re talking about true medical help. But in the abortion industry, Planned Parenthood and the abortion cartels are going to try their best to maximize profits with that of course, because they always put profit over people.<\/strong> And we\u2019ve got to be watching for that, that\u2019s going to be one of these new emerging areas, I think, as telemedicine takes off and becomes more common and more prevalent. <\/strong>So particularly out in the rural areas, you know, it\u2019s going to be a big thing to watch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo we\u2019ll have some legislation to try and address that as well<\/strong>, but again, I keep coming back to the same issue that, you know, it really comes down to the election if \u2026 the pro-abortion Democrats are allowed to maintain control of the House, we\u2019re kind of stuck on go because we can\u2019t move this important legislation. And they\u2019re never going to allow it in any of the larger bills. So we got to be really active and engaged in this cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Senate Republicans signed onto a statement \u201csupporting\u201d access to IVF, only to block a bill protecting it the next day. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cLegislation to establish a national right to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) was blocked by Senate Republicans on Thursday, <\/strong>amid a push by Democrats to put the GOP on defense over reproductive rights ahead of the November elections\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Right to IVF Act, sponsored by Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.), is a package of four bills that would both establish a nationwide right to IVF and other assisted reproductive technology, as well as lower the costs of IVF treatment to make it more accessible.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
