Jackson, <\/em><strong><em>DNC Deputy National Press Secretary Nina Raneses released the following statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBecause of Donald Trump\u2019s handpicked Supreme Court justices, women across the country continue to face a dangerous new reality in the wake of the overturning of <em>Roe v. Wade <\/em>\u2014 which has had a unique and devastating impact on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women. From extreme abortion bans to criminalizing safe and effective medication abortion pills and threatening IVF access, MAGA Republicans have been relentless in their attacks on our health care choices for the past two years to further the extreme, anti-choice MAGA agenda. But make no mistake: Trump\u2019s anti-choice extremism is driving AANHPI voters to stand up and fight back. Our community knows there\u2019s only one ticket in this race fighting to restore access to the health care we deserve. The AANHPI vote was the margin of victory for President Biden and Vice President Harris, and we\u2019ll mobilize again to reelect them and defend our freedom to make our own health care decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The anti-choice extremism unleashed after <\/strong><strong><em>Dobbs <\/em><\/strong><strong>has had a devastating and unique impact on AANHPI women.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalpartnership.org\/state-abortion-bans-could-harm-more-than-1-3-million-asian-american-and-pacific-islander-women\/\">National Partnership for Women &amp; Families<\/a>: \u201cAbortion is difficult to access for many AAPI communities for myriad reasons including \u2018language barriers, cultural stigma, and low rates of insurance coverage.\u2019 <strong>These barriers \u2013 which vary across AAPI communities \u2013 have been exacerbated by abortion bans that have been or are likely to be enacted in the wake of the Dobbs ruling. <\/strong>New analysis from the National Partnership for Women &amp; Families sheds light on the staggering impact of Dobbs\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cMore than a quarter of Asian American and Pacific Islander women ages 15-49 live in the 26 states that have banned or are likely to ban abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/napawf.org\/actions\/abortionsolidarity\/\">National Asian Pacific American Women\u2019s Forum<\/a>: \u201cAsian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women face unique barriers to abortion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AAPI working women are overrepresented in the frontline and service industry, often working without health insurance let alone paid medical or family leave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sixty-six percent of Asian Americans and 30 percent of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders speak a language other than English at home and experience difficulties in accessing health care due to language barriers.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AAPI women face an increased risk of criminalization for their pregnancy outcomes because of racial profiling rooted in anti-immigrant sentiments and sex-selective abortion bans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly two-thirds of Asian Americans and one-fifth of Pacific Islanders are\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>foreign-born and the criminalization of abortion heightens fears of adverse immigration consequences for undocumented individuals, refugees, and other immigrants regardless of their immigrant status.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2023\/may\/31\/asian-americans-access-to-abortion-information\">The Guardian<\/a>: \u201cBut since the US supreme court overturned Roe v Wade, which protected access to abortion, abortion restrictions have increased in the US. The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) called that decision <strong>\u2018disastrous\u2019 for south-east Asian Americans and other groups across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018Immigrants are at particular risk, with many now having to choose between an abortion or residency in the US,\u2019 said Quy\u00ean \u0110inh, SEARAC\u2019s executive director at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An overwhelming majority of the AANHPI community want to safeguard access to abortion, and they\u2019ll be the margin of victory that helps reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris so they can defend our access to reproductive health care.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/asian-america\/asian-americans-highest-levels-support-abortion-rights-driving-vote-rcna54381\">NBC News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cHealth care is the top priority Asian American voters are taking to the ballot box, according to the 2022 Asian American Voter Survey; experts say a big reason for that is the overturning of of Roe v. Wade and the mounting restrictions on reproductive rights across the country.<\/strong> With studies finding that Asian American and Pacific Islanders show some of the highest levels of support for abortion rights, <strong>community leaders are expecting this issue to drive Asian Americans to the polls \u2014 many for the first time ever.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/asian-americans-pacific-islanders-abortion-poll-7d90bc4db4093791b3ef31081a8addd8#:~:text=WASHINGTON%20(AP)%20%E2%80%94%20With%20abortion,an%20abortion%20for%20any%20reason.\">Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cWith abortion rights poised to be one of the major issues in the 2024 election, a new poll shows that <strong>Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the United States are highly supportive of legal abortion, even in situations where the pregnant person wants an abortion for any reason.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThe poll from AAPI Data and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that nearly 8 in 10 Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders think abortion should be legal in all or most cases.<\/strong> They\u2019re also supportive of federal government action to preserve abortion rights: <strong>Three-quarters of AAPI adults say Congress should pass a law guaranteeing access to legal abortions nationwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump can\u2019t stop bragging about killing <\/strong><strong><em>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><strong>, which has threatened the wellbeing and lives of women across the country by enabling extreme abortion bans.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/trump-was-able-kill-roe-v-wade-rcna84897\">NBC News<\/a>: <strong>\u201cTrump: \u2018I was able to kill Roe v. Republicans will keep losing because of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/trump-abortion-roe-v-wade-supreme-court-gop-primary-2024-1\">Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cTrump boasts he&#8217;s &#8216;proud&#8217; about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, the issue that has become ballot-box poison for Republicans\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/donald-trump-abortion-roe-v-wade-2024-election_n_659f5ff5e4b0712b12c38e97\">HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cDonald Trump Says He\u2019s \u2018Proud\u2019 To Have Overturned Roe v. Wade\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump and anti-choice extremists aren\u2019t stopping with abortion \u2014 they\u2019re trying to rip away access to other forms of reproductive health care as well.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-features\/maga-plan-attack-birth-control-surveil-women-ban-abortion-pill-1234934807\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cInside the MAGA Plan to Attack Birth Control, Surveil Women and Ban the Abortion Pill\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe attacks on mifepristone and resurrection of Comstock stand out as particularly harmful proposals, but they are only two of the dozens of ways <strong>the Republicans behind Project 2025 envision restricting access to abortion and contraception if they win the White House next year.<\/strong> Elsewhere in the document,<strong> there are proposals to eliminate the morning-after pill from the Affordable Care Act\u2019s contraceptive mandate under the rationale that it is a \u2018potential abortifacient.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/11\/13\/trump-loyalists-2024-presidential-election\">Axios<\/a>: <strong>\u201cThis is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump&#8217;s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025.
