To mark the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em> decision, DNC Director of Outreach Communications Tracy King released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMake no mistake \u2013 Trump is the reason that more than half of Black women of reproductive age now live in states that have either banned or restricted abortion. The Dobbs<\/em> ruling cleared the path for Trump\u2019s MAGA minions nationwide to wage relentless attacks on reproductive health care \u2014 from dangerous, extreme abortion bans and threatening IVF access, to prosecuting women and doctors. Trump and the MAGA GOP\u2019s anti-freedom agenda builds on the significant and disproportionate hardship and disparities Black women face in accessing basic health care. Come November, Black women will head to the polls to reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris \u2014 the only ticket fighting to protect our reproductive freedoms and restore our rights.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black women are disproportionately bearing the brunt of Trump\u2019s actions to rip away abortion rights. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guardian<\/a>: \u201cMore than half of US Black women aged 15-49 live under abortion bans \u2013 report\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMore than 6.7 million Black women \u2013 nearly 57% of Black women in the US between the ages of 15 and 49 \u2013 live in the 26 states that have restricted or banned abortion since Roe was overturned in June 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas Tribune<\/a>: \u201cFacing higher teen pregnancy and maternal mortality rates, Black women will largely bear the brunt of abortion limits\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cThe United States is now a country without a legal right to an abortion. In this new reality, Black women will suffer the most.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBlack women are more likely to live in areas where it\u2019s harder to access contraception<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor centuries, Black women have fought for autonomy over their bodies, against government-sanctioned abuse and abuse from intimate partners. The end of a constitutional right to legal abortion makes the fight harder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong>, Trump has repeatedly bragged about killing <\/strong>Roe<\/em><\/strong> and proudly takes credit for the dangerous, extreme abortion bans plaguing women across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump campaign radio ad<\/a>: “And Trump nominated conservative judges, leading to Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump plans to take his deeply unpopular, extremist agenda even further if elected \u2013 implementing a national abortion ban that will put the health and lives of women nationwide at risk. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI’m looking at all options.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. <\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris administration is fighting to protect reproductive health care for all Americans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201cBiden administration announces new steps to protect contraceptives, abortion medication on Roe anniversary\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s the latest attempt by the federal government to preserve abortion access and protect reproductive health <\/strong>care since the Supreme Court’s decision in June 2022 to end federal protections for abortion rights\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo strengthen contraception access, the administration said it will implement several measures, including federal agencies issuing new guidance to \u2018clarify standards\u2019 and make sure Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptive medications are available for free under the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White House Fact Sheet<\/a>: \u201cSince 2021, funding to reduce maternal mortality has grown by over $190 million, demonstrating the Administration\u2019s commitment<\/strong> to addressing needs in this area.
