As MAGA minions in the House prioritize political stunts after tanking President Biden and Vice President Harris\u2019 bipartisan border security deal at Donald Trump\u2019s command, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance and the rest of Donald Trump\u2019s MAGA minions killed the toughest, fairest bipartisan border reforms in decades because Trump put his own selfish political interests ahead of our country, telling Americans they should \u2018blame it on me.\u2019 Well, we are. Instead of working to secure the border, Trump\u2019s MAGA GOP is fixated on trying to score cheap points that cater to the Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s selfish instincts \u2013 not the American people or our border security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: At his command, Donald Trump\u2019s running mate JD Vance joined MAGA minions in Congress to tank the bipartisan border deal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance<\/a>: \u201c[The bipartisan border security bill] does nothing to secure the border.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cTrump, House Republicans plot to kill border deal\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cTrump made this clear when he reportedly urged Republicans in Congress to turn against the bipartisan Senate border security bill scheduled for a vote Wednesday so that he could keep the issue alive through the presidential election.<\/strong> His supporters have largely fallen in line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cTrump, who is hoping to make immigration a key plank of his presidential campaign, has suggested on Truth Social that approving additional resources for the border would make Republicans \u2018look bad.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson helped tank the bipartisan border security bill \u2014 even calling it \u201c<\/strong>dead on arrival<\/strong><\/a>\u201d \u2014 despite saying border security \u201cis a job for Congress.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cIf the GOP can capture total control of the government \u2026 [Johnson] said border security would be at the top of the legislative agenda right out of the gate.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson<\/a>: \u201cOur immigration system is broken. Reforming that system is a job for Congress.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson<\/a>: \u201cThe crisis at our southern border has deteriorated to such an extent that significant action can wait no longer.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik called the bipartisan border deal an \u201c<\/strong>absolute non-starter<\/strong><\/a>\u201d but has repeatedly said the top priority for House Republicans was securing the border.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefanik<\/a>: \u201cOur top priority is securing the southern border.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefanik<\/a>: \u201cThe reality is the House Republicans are going to stand up for border security on behalf of the American people,<\/strong> because we know that is the top concern among Americans, not just Republicans, but Independents and Democrat voters as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefanik<\/a>: \u201cI know that the Speaker\u2019s top priority is securing the border.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guardian<\/a>: \u201c\u2018We don\u2019t support shutting down the government,\u2019 Stefanik said. \u2018But we must secure the border.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two-thirds of Americans support the bipartisan border security deal that Trump directed MAGA Republicans to reject.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
