In response to MAGA Republicans dismissing Trump\u2019s promise that Americans \u201cwon\u2019t have to vote anymore\u201d if he\u2019s reelected, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMAGA Republicans may shrug at Donald Trump\u2019s dangerous rhetoric promising to end American democracy \u2013 but voters aren’t. Trump and his far-right running mate JD Vance are campaigning on an extreme and out-of-touch agenda, and if given the chance, they\u2019ll enact their Project 2025 plans to undermine our democracy and rip away our basic rights. The American people are sick and tired of the Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s non-stop attacks on our fundamental values, and they\u2019re ready to stand up for our democracy this November at the ballot box.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAGA Republicans spent Sunday morning laughing off Donald Trump\u2019s antidemocratic promise that Americans \u201cwon\u2019t have to vote anymore\u201d if he\u2019s reelected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake Tapper, CNN<\/a>: \u201cI want you to take a listen to something Former President Trump said Friday night at a gathering of conservative Christians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clip of Donald Trump: \u201cGet out and vote, just this time! You won\u2019t have to do it anymore<\/strong> \u2013 four more years, you know what, it\u2019ll be fixed, it\u2019ll be fine. You won\u2019t have to vote anymore,<\/strong> my beautiful Christians. Get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don\u2019t have to vote again,<\/strong> we\u2019ll have it fixed so good, you\u2019re not gonna have to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tapper: \u201cHow did you interpret that remark?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Cotton: \u201cI think he\u2019s obviously making a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martha Raddatz, ABC News<\/a>: \u201cFormer President Trump facing some backlash for those comments Friday night saying his supporters won\u2019t have to vote again in four years. I\u2019m joined now by the Republican governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu. Governor, what the heck did he mean there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Sununu: [Laughs] \u201cWell, I think that was a classic Trumpism, if you will. I think he\u2019s just trying to make the point that this stuff can be fixed\u2026 but I think he was just trying to make a hyperbolic point that it can be fixed as long as he gets back into office and all that. But, you know, classic Trump right there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Costa, CBS News<\/a>: \u201cSenator, just a minute here quickly, Democrats say the former president is trying to take the reins of the entire democratic system here with these comments. You\u2019re laughing. What do you believe he\u2019s trying to say? What\u2019s the truth?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lindsey Graham: \u201cHe\u2019s trying to tell the Christian community and anybody else who\u2019s listening: the nightmare that we\u2019re experiencing will soon be over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Sununu said the quiet part out loud \u2013 JD Vance is unprepared, unqualified, and is surrounding himself with toxic people who feed off of \u201cpersonal attacks.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Sununu<\/a>: \u201cI think, look, he\u2019s a younger guy \u2013 I think this is all very, very new to him. I mean, he\u2019s only been in Washington eighteen months. \u2026 I think he\u2019s surrounding himself, obviously, with a lot of the folks in the campaign that kind of \u2014 kind of feel an energy off of those personal attacks, but that ain\u2019t what\u2019s going to drive the vote.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron Johnson got called out on Fox News for helping to tank the toughest, fairest bipartisan border security bill in decades.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannon Bream, Fox News<\/a>: \u201c[Karine Jean-Pierre] said essentially Republicans are the ones who are not helping at the border, that you had a chance to send better resources and sign on to this law, essentially, and you didn\u2019t<\/strong>. Democrats say, and you heard Pete Buttigieg say it, it\u2019s because President Trump told you not to, that the chaos at the border is a great campaign issue for him. <\/strong>So why did you vote no?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
