In response to Donald Trump <\/em>doubling down<\/em><\/a> on his extreme plans to threaten our democracy, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump is once again making it clear that a Trump-Vance administration will put Trump above our democracy at every turn. Trump and his extreme election-denying running mate JD Vance have an extreme Project 2025 agenda that would gut checks and balances, tear apart our democratic institutions, and allow Trump to follow through on his promise to rule as a dictator on \u2018day one.\u2019 Make no mistake, democracy is on the line in this election \u2013 just listen to Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump doubled down last night on his dangerous promise to voters that they \u201cwon\u2019t have to vote anymore\u201d if he\u2019s elected president.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI said, \u2018vote for me, you\u2019re not going to have to do it ever again.\u2019 It\u2019s true. \u2026 You won\u2019t have to vote anymore. I won\u2019t need your vote.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cYou won\u2019t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what \u2013 it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won\u2019t have to vote anymore.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Trump is still pushing baseless lies about his loss by over 7 million votes in the 2020 election.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201c[Trump] is flooding the airwaves and his social media platform with distortions, misinformation and unfounded conspiracy theories about his defeat.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cRe-litigating the 2020 election, repeating false claims it was stolen and casting aspersions on the security of mail voting remain major fixtures for [Trump] on the stump.<\/strong> \u2026 He regularly refers to the 2020 election as \u2018rigged\u2019 on his social media channels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump \u2014 who called January 6 a beautiful day \u2014 continues to praise and promise pardons for violent insurrectionists he calls \u201chostages\u201d and \u201cpatriots.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cFormer President Donald Trump promised Wednesday night that if he is elected he will pardon a \u2018large portion\u2019 of the people convicted of federal offenses for their participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cJanuary 6, it was the largest crowd I\u2019ve ever spoken to. And they were there proud, they were there with love in their heart. That was an unbelievable \u2014 and it was a beautiful day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has threatened political violence and warned of a \u201cbloodbath\u201d if he loses in November, and he is vowing to be a dictator on \u201cday one\u201d if he wins.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not just Trump \u2013 JD Vance is an extreme election denier who won\u2019t commit to accepting this November\u2019s election results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] said he would accept a Biden win only if he considered the election to be legitimate. \u2026 Vance\u2019s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers, who are now placing conditions on accepting election results.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vances echoes Trump\u2019s baseless lies about the 2020 election and attempts to whitewash the violent January 6 insurrection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors<\/strong>, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would\u2019ve been a much better thing for the country. \u2026 [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it would\u2019ve been extraordinarily disappointing to a whole host of people that I care a lot about if Trump had just taken it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Vance has no problem with the idea of Trump using the government to go after his political opponents.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristen Welker, NBC<\/a>: \u201cSenator, if former President Trump were to win, if you were to be his vice president, would you support him appointing a special prosecutor to go after his political enemies, the Bidens?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance praised Project 2025 \u2013 which is \u201cundeniably a Trump-driven operation\u201d \u2013 as containing \u201cgood ideas,\u201d and has cozied up to Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThis is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
