In response to Vance <\/em>doubling down<\/em><\/a> on his praise of Project 2025 and refusal to certify election results, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance still<\/em> won\u2019t commit to certifying election results \u2013 he\u2019s too busy doubling down on his praise of the far-right architects of the dangerous Project 2025 agenda. There may be plenty that Vance \u2018likes about\u2019 Project 2025\u2019s wildly unpopular plans to strip Americans\u2019 rights and gut our system of checks and balances. But unfortunately for the Trump-Vance ticket, the only things voters like less than Vance are his extreme anti-democracy rhetoric and the radical, out-of-touch Project 2025 ideas that he and Trump are pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Vance refused to commit to certifying election results (again) and doubled down on praise of Project 2025 leadership.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTUS<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Asked if that means he would go so far as to put Trump\u2019s desires above his constitutional authority<\/strong> \u2014 as Pence has said he was asked to do on Jan. 6, 2021, when Trump wanted him to send the election back to the states \u2014 Vance wouldn\u2019t entertain the \u2018hypothetical.<\/strong>\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAsked if he regretted his kind words about [the Heritage Foundation]<\/strong>, given the political problems Project 2025 is causing for Trump and Republicans, Vance was clear: \u2018No.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018The Heritage Foundation has some good ideas, and also has some ideas that \u2026 I think are bad ideas. And regardless of whether you think they\u2019re good ideas or bad ideas, it has nothing to do with the Trump campaign,\u2019 Vance said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe noted that Project 2025 was a 900-page document, and he was clear that he hadn\u2019t read \u2018the whole thing,\u2019 but he certainly wasn\u2019t about to disavow the entire effort.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Vance is an extreme election denier who won\u2019t commit to accepting this November\u2019s election results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vances echoes Trump\u2019s baseless lies about the 2020 election and attempts to whitewash the violent January 6 insurrection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors<\/strong>, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would\u2019ve been a much better thing for the country. \u2026 [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it would\u2019ve been extraordinarily disappointing to a whole host of people that I care a lot about if Trump had just taken it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance says he is \u2018skeptical\u2019 Pence\u2019s life was in danger on Jan. 6\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] downplayed the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol<\/strong>, when Pence was forced to evacuate the building as rioters called for his hanging.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance praised Project 2025 \u2013 which is \u201cundeniably a Trump-driven operation\u201d \u2013 as containing \u201cgood ideas,\u201d and has cozied up to Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThis is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
