In response to <\/em>new reporting<\/em><\/a> that Donald Trump took a private flight with Project 2025 leader Kevin Roberts and was \u201cpersonally\u201d briefed by Roberts on Project 2025, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump didn\u2019t just know about Project 2025 \u2013 he was \u2018personally\u2019 briefed on this \u2018undeniably\u2019 Trump-driven operation by the agenda\u2019s chief architect. Trump\u2019s deep ties to Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation make it clear that no matter how hard they try to spin it, Trump and Project 2025 posterboy JD Vance are fully connected to this dangerous plan to rip away our freedoms, threaten our democracy, and take our country backward. While Trump and Vance desperately try to distance themselves from their own ultra-MAGA platform, voters are learning more and more about Project 2025\u2019s wildly unpopular proposals every day \u2013 and are ready to reject this extreme, far-right blueprint at the ballot box in November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Donald Trump was briefed on Project 2025 by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts and took a private flight with Roberts in 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn April 2022, Trump shared a 45-minute private flight with Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts<\/strong>\u2026 They flew together to a Heritage conference where Trump delivered a keynote address that gestured to Heritage\u2019s forthcoming policy proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018They\u2019re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do,\u2019 Trump said<\/strong> in the speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeparately, Roberts told The Washington Post in an interview in April of this year that he had previously discussed Project 2025 with Trump<\/strong> as part of offering briefings to all presidential candidates. \u2018I personally have talked to President Trump about Project 2025,\u2019 he said<\/strong> in the interview, \u2018because my role in the project has been to make sure that all of the candidates who have responded to our offer for a briefing on Project 2025 get one from me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FACT: Trump and his campaign are closely aligned with Project 2025 \u2013 it is \u201cundeniably a Trump-driven operation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThis is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cMany of the authors of the blueprint are former Trump officials, and the Heritage Foundation has spent the past year-plus recruiting people to implement the plans within the administration<\/strong>, Scott said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018So they don\u2019t just have a long, sprawling policy document,\u2019 he said, \u2018they also have a growing list of staff who are being tested to see if they are loyal to Trump and if they are willing to administer this in his potential administration.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile groups like Heritage have put forward conservative policy proposals in the past, Scott said Project 2025 is distinct in that it\u2019s so comprehensive and far-reaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018It has so many groups contributing to it. It\u2019s the whole conservative policy movement gathered together,\u2019<\/strong> he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Week<\/a>: \u201cMany of Trump\u2019s indicated plans for a second term fall in line with the Project 2025 outline.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRoberts told me that he views Heritage\u2019s role today as \u2018institutionalizing Trumpism.\u2019 <\/strong>This includes leading Project 2025, a transition blueprint that outlines a plan to consolidate power in the executive branch, dismantle federal agencies and recruit and vet government employees to free the next Republican president from a system that Roberts views as stacked against conservative power. The lesson of Trump\u2019s first year in office, Roberts told me, is that \u2018the Trump administration \u2026 simply got a slow start. And Heritage and our allies in Project 2025 believe that must never be repeated.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance also has deep ties to Project 2025 and has praised the extreme MAGA agenda as containing \u201cgood ideas.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance wrote foreword of upcoming book from Project 2025 architect\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cVance is on record supporting these [Project 2025] ideas. Last year, he signed a letter demanding that the Justice Department prosecute physicians and pharmacists \u2018who break the Federal mail-order abortion laws.\u2019<\/strong> In 2022, he said he was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the idea that the federal government should stop efforts to help women traveling out of their states to get abortions. \u2026 The second controversial area where Vance is sympatico with Project 2025 is centralizing presidential power over the executive branch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Republic<\/a>: \u201cProject 2025 Leader Is Overjoyed by Trump\u2019s Vice Presidential Pick\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick Corasaniti, New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[Heritage president Kevin Roberts] reacted to the news [of Vance\u2019s VP selection] \u2018with a broad smile on my face\u2019 and said that \u2018privately, we were really rooting for him.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gram Slattery, Reuters<\/a>: \u201cVance is very close to Heritage and even wrote the forward for a book from the think tank\u2019s president. Project 2025 is of course organized by Heritage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cKevin Roberts, the president of the right-wing Heritage Foundation and the driving force behind Project 2025, told Ward that \u2018[Vance] is absolutely going to be one of the leaders \u2014 if not the leader \u2014 of our movement.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe r\u00e9sum\u00e9s of Vance\u2019s senior staffers read like a phone book for the New Right ecosystem in Washington: the Claremont Institute, American Compass, the Conservative Partnership Institute, Hillsdale College.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: Project 2025 author and RNC Platform Committee Policy Director Russ Vought is a \u201cclose ally of Vance.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roberts recently <\/strong>warned<\/strong><\/a> of potential violence and threatened a \u201crevolution.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, is talking up revolution and the prospect of \u2018bloodshed\u2019 in the wake of the Supreme Court\u2019s decision placing the president outside the reach of criminal law.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLater in the broadcast, Roberts predicted that his \u2018second revolution\u2019 would be complete by 2050, and that it would coincide with a new \u2018great awakening\u2019 that would bring America to God \u2014 underscoring the extent to which Heritage and its Project 2025 is entwined with Christian nationalism. Roberts insisted that \u2018God\u2019s law can, in fact, be a huge influence on the civil laws.\u2019 And he offered a constrained vision of American liberty: \u2018Our definition of \u2018freedom\u2019 is not the freedom to do whatever the heck we want, but the freedom to do what we ought.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Americans are learning more and more about the Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s extreme and unpopular Project 2025 agenda \u2013 and rejecting this dangerous and out-of-touch MAGA blueprint.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigator Research<\/a>: \u201cAmericans oppose all the key elements in Project 2025, with the greatest concerns around health care, worker\u2019s rights, and dismantling federal programs. <\/strong>Over four in five Americans oppose an array of policies proposed in Project 2025 such as \u2018allowing employers to stop paying hourly workers overtime\u2019 \u2026 Additionally, four in five oppose \u2018allowing the government to monitor people\u2019s pregnancies to potentially prosecute them if they miscarry.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmericans\u2019 overall opposition to Project 2025 increases after reading about its specific policy goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
