In response to Donald Trump saying he would \u201cabsolutely\u201d direct the FDA to revoke abortion medication access, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump said it loud and clear: If they win, Trump and JD Vance will \u2018absolutely\u2019 enact their Project 2025 agenda to end access to medication abortion and achieve their goal of banning abortion nationwide \u2013 all without Congress. The Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s Project 2025 MAGA blueprint is an all-out assault on our basic freedoms. If they get their way, millions of women could be denied reproductive care and forced to live under the cruel abortion bans that Trump made possible when he ended Roe v. Wade<\/em>. It\u2019s a dangerous and a losing agenda, and the American people will stop it from ever becoming a reality, no matter how much Trump and Vance try to gaslight us about their anti-choice extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s Project 2025 agenda includes a national abortion ban and threats to medication abortion access.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cTrump Wants to Ban Abortion Nationwide: Report\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong>During a podcast interview in January 2022, then-candidate JD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance suggested he would support prohibiting abortion even in cases of rape and incest\u2014and dismissed those catalysts as \u2018inconvenient.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project 2025<\/a>: \u201cFDA should \u2026 Reverse its approval of chemical abortion drugs because the politicized approval process was illegal from the start<\/strong> \u2026 Now that the Supreme Court has acknowledged that the Constitution contains no right to an abortion, the FDA is ethically and legally obliged to revisit and withdraw its initial approval, which was premised on pregnancy being an \u2018illness\u2019 and abortion being \u2018therapeutically\u2019 effective at treating this \u2018illness.\u2019 The FDA is statutorily charged with guaranteeing the safety and efficacy of drugs and therefore should withdraw this drug that is proven to be dangerous to women and by definition fatally unsafe for unborn children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThe Heritage Foundation,<\/strong> which has proposed detailed policies for a potential GOP administration, argues that Comstock \u2018unambiguously prohibits mailing abortion drugs\u2019 and says the next administration should \u2018enforce federal law against providers and distributors of [abortion] pills.\u2019”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201c[Project 2025] is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRoberts told me that he views Heritage\u2019s role today as \u2018institutionalizing Trumpism.\u2019 <\/strong>This includes leading Project 2025, a transition blueprint that outlines a plan to consolidate power in the executive branch, dismantle federal agencies and recruit and vet government employees to free the next Republican president from a system that Roberts views as stacked against conservative power. The lesson of Trump\u2019s first year in office, Roberts told me, is that \u2018the Trump administration \u2026 simply got a slow start. And Heritage and our allies in Project 2025 believe that must never be repeated.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Trump \u201cproudly\u201d overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and paved the way for extreme abortion bans across the country \u2014 something his extreme anti-choice running mate JD Vance has celebrated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what I really think on \u2013 so first of all, the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> decision, everybody knows, overruled <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I think that was the right decision.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attacks on access to reproductive health care like the Trump-Vance agenda to rip away medication abortion access aren\u2019t just dangerous \u2014 they\u2019re deeply unpopular.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cMore than 7 in 10 Americans support access to medication abortion, and even more back the Food and Drug Administration’s ability to regulate drugs, a new Axios-Ipsos poll finds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere’s widespread support for letting women obtain drugs for medication abortion from their doctor or a clinic, with 72% supporting \u2014 including half of Republicans.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pew Research<\/a>: \u201cBroad Public Support for Legal Abortion Persists 2 Years After Dobbs\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbout six-in-ten (63%) say abortion should be legal in all or most cases. This share has grown 4 percentage points since 2021 \u2013 the year prior to the 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization that overturned Roe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince before Roe was overturned, both parties have seen a modest uptick in the share who say abortion should be legal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmericans say medication abortion should be legal rather than illegal by a margin of more than two-to-one (54% vs. 20%).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide.<\/strong> By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
