Floridians Know Donald Trump Is To Blame for Extreme and Dangerous Six-Week Abortion Ban<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Donald Trump said that he would vote \u201cno\u201d<\/a> on Florida\u2019s constitutional amendment to enshrine abortion rights into the state\u2019s constitution. Trump has repeatedly refused<\/a> to answer whether he supports it, but now, he\u2019s finally admitting where he stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Donald Trump continues to try to sidestep and deny his role in enabling Florida\u2019s draconian and dangerous six-week abortion ban, Floridians know that this was only made possible because of his presidency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A reminder<\/strong>: Trump once boasted<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Florida voters mobilize to enshrine abortion rights and overturn the state\u2019s extreme Trump-enabled abortion ban this November,<\/em> DNC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy issued the following Statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump is \u2018proud\u2019 of his role in overturning Roe v. Wade<\/em>. As a result, millions of women across Florida are suffering under an unpopular, dangerous, extreme abortion ban. Whether it\u2019s abortion access, IVF, or contraception, Donald Trump opened the floodgates to attacks on women\u2019s reproductive freedoms \u2013 and he\u2019s not stopping there. If Trump reaches the White House, his Project 2025 agenda will ban abortion nationwide and threaten IVF access. As Floridians mobilize to fight for their rights, they head to the polls knowing that the only candidates at the top of the ticket fighting for their reproductive freedoms are Vice President Harris and Governor Walz.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Donald Trump, women in Florida live in constant fear about their ability to access the care they need.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guardian<\/a>: \u201cThis is life and death\u2019: inside a Florida clinic after the six-week abortion ban\u201d<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cState\u2019s fall as the last bastion of access to the procedure in the deep south means women will have to travel farther for care\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe impact of the ban will ripple across the US. Women who are past six weeks \u2013 about 60% of Florida abortions take place after that point in pregnancy \u2013 will have to travel at least several states away for abortions, further burdening the relatively few abortion clinics that have survived Roe\u2019s fall\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne woman, pregnant from her husband\u2019s repeated sexual assaults, cried on the phone on Wednesday as a staffer told her that she likely couldn\u2019t get an abortion in Florida. The woman, who lived in a state with a near-total abortion ban, was confused by Florida\u2019s ban and overwhelmed by the difficulty of having to travel even farther than she had imagined\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne patient at Bread and Roses on Tuesday, who asked to be identified by her initial A, was little more than five weeks into her pregnancy. A new mom with a months-old baby at home, A had always opposed abortion, but she had developed heart failure during her last pregnancy. Then she had a seizure about a week after giving birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018After my condition after my last pregnancy, I realized it\u2019s something people should have a right to if need be,\u2019 A said of abortion. \u2018I feel like women should have rights to their bodies. I think it\u2019s cruel, honestly, for people with health conditions, like myself.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cWhen she walked into the abortion clinic Tuesday morning, Kristen thought she\u2019d made it just in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe 22-year-old mother of two had learned just a few hours earlier that a new six-week abortion ban would go into effect in Florida on Wednesday. So she canceled all her plans and found someone to drive her, in hopes of ending her pregnancy before the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe was one day too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018We did an ultrasound and you\u2019re over the state limit,\u2019 said Eileen Diamond, the director of Benjamin Surgical Services International, gently explaining to Kristen that the test showed she was eight weeks pregnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile the clinic could still provide abortions for women more than six weeks into their pregnancies until midnight, Diamond said, another Florida law requires all abortion patients to have an ultrasound at least 24 hours before their procedure. That meant the earliest Kristen could get an abortion was Wednesday, when her abortion would no longer be legal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Oh no,\u2019 Kristen said, tears rolling down her cheeks as she sat across a desk from Diamond in a consultation room. \u2018No. No.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump wants to ban abortion nationwide; just look at his record. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI’m looking at all [options].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere has to be some form of punishment [for women who have abortions].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks<\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump paved the way for GOP threats to IVF access, and his extreme anti-choice allies are pushing to gut IVF access. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cHow the reversal of Roe v. Wade led to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos are children\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cDonald Trump Has Deep Ties To Anti-IVF Movement\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLike many Republicans, Trump\u2019s words of support don\u2019t align with his past actions on IVF. The current Republican presidential nominee \u2015 who has repeatedly bragged about his role in repealing federal abortion protections \u2015 has deep ties to extreme right-wing organizations that actively oppose IVF.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile in the White House, Trump and his administration praised, appointed and worked with some of the nation\u2019s most extreme thought leaders who believe the IVF process is akin to murder.<\/strong> Trump hosted the Alabama Supreme Court chief justice who wrote the IVF ruling twice: once during his 2016 campaign and in 2018 at the White House. <\/strong>(This is the same chief justice who recently appeared on a QAnon conspiracist\u2019s show.)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cAnti-abortion advocates worked for five decades to topple Roe v. Wade. They\u2019re now laying the groundwork for a yearslong fight to curb in vitro fertilization.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince the Alabama Supreme Court ruled last month that frozen embryos are children, the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups have been strategizing how to convince not just GOP officials but evangelicals broadly that they should have serious moral concerns about fertility treatments like IVF and that access to them should be curtailed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201c[Project 2025] is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump is demanding credit for enabling extreme abortion bans across the country and said he is \u201cproud\u201d of his work to overturn <\/strong>Roe v. Wade.<\/em><\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
