Trump\u2019s Republican party is putting Big Pharma CEOs over America\u2019s seniors by attempting to roll back cost-savings on health care and prescription drugs from millions of Americans. Trump and his MAGA minions\u2019 Project 2025 plans to repeal the Biden-Harris Inflation Reduction Act \u2013 which is already saving seniors thousands a year&nbsp; \u2013 would cause over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/project-2025-prescription-drug-plan-would-increase-costs-for-as-many-as-18-5-million-seniors-and-others-with-medicare\/\">18 million<\/a> Americans to see price hikes. Seniors deserve a leader who will stand up to Big Pharma and fight for them, and the only candidate in this race who will show up for American seniors is Kamala Harris.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recent reporting on MAGA Republicans\u2019 plan to repeal Medicare drug price negotiations under the IRA shows they care more about cozying up to Big Pharma than helping American seniors afford the prescription medications they need.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/09\/17\/trump-drug-prices-gop-concerns\">Axios<\/a>: \u201cHill GOP sets sights on scrapping drug price talks\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe big picture: The tension surfaced this week when multiple high-ranking <strong>Republicans told Axios they want to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act&#8217;s Medicare drug price negotiations<\/strong> next year if they prevail in the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat they&#8217;re saying: \u2018<strong>I would try to remove that and replace it<\/strong>, but I can&#8217;t tell you the exact, you know, what it would be yet,\u2019 <strong>Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), <\/strong>who&#8217;s in line to be the next chair of the Senate Finance Committee if Republicans flip the chamber, told Axios when asked about the drug price talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.)<\/strong> said the IRA drug pricing provisions are <strong>\u2018the worst legislation I&#8217;ve ever witnessed in 10 years<\/strong> in Congress and 10 years in the state legislature\u2019 and he <strong>\u2018absolutely\u2019 wants to repeal them<\/strong>\u2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.)<\/strong> said he <strong>\u2018100%\u2019 wants to repeal the negotiation provisions<\/strong>, while other drug pricing sections of the law would need to be evaluated based on whether they have \u2018a positive impact on business.\u2019\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/politico-pulse\/2024\/08\/16\/biden-bookends-drug-price-negotiations-00174211\">Politico<\/a>: \u201cThat\u2019s despite <strong>Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell frequently calling Medicare negotiations \u2018prescription drug socialism\u2019 and no Republicans voting for the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act,<\/strong> which established the negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut House GOP leadership, including <strong>Speaker Mike Johnson, called it price-fixing, as did the Republican National Committee,<\/strong> and said it endangered future cures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>House and Senate Republicans took their plans to hike up drug prices for Medicare enrollees straight from Donald Trump\u2019s extremist Project 2025 playbook.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/project-2025-prescription-drug-plan-would-increase-costs-for-as-many-as-18-5-million-seniors-and-others-with-medicare\/\">Center for American Progress<\/a>: <strong>\u201cProject 2025 Prescription Drug Plan Would Increase Costs for as Many as 18.5 Million Seniors and Others With Medicare\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cProject 2025\u2019s \u2018Mandate for Leadership: A Conservative Promise\u2019 calls for repealing the Inflation Reduction Act.
