As JD Vance pushes the Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s anti-choice Project 2025 agenda and fundraises with Project 2025 leader Brooke Rollins, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Trump-Vance ticket isn\u2019t just taking policy guidance from Project 2025, they\u2019re fundraising with the dangerous plans\u2019 architects. JD Vance is continuing to embrace a dangerous, anti-choice agenda today at a fundraiser in Texas with a Project 2025 architect whose organization is \u2018helping to implement\u2019 the Project 2025 agenda that includes a national abortion ban, with or without Congress. While women\u2019s lives are on the line in Texas as a result of MAGA Republicans\u2019 extreme ban, the Trump-Vance ticket is showing the American people that, if given the chance, they\u2019ll put our basic rights at risk and rip away our reproductive freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance is fundraising today with Project 2025 leader Brooke Rollins \u2013 whose organization is \u201chelping to implement\u201d the Trump-Vance Project 2025 agenda to ban abortion nationwide \u2013 who has said opposing cruel abortion bans is \u201can assault on life\u201d and supported the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> ruling that overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHowever, in less than 1 year in office, President Joe Biden has reversed many successful Trump-era pro-life precedents. For example, he revoked policies that banned foreign aid for abortion, called for the codification of Roe as a foundational premise for all judicial nominees, and unleashed his Department of Justice to file suit against the Texas Heartbeat Act. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsidering this assault on life\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rollins<\/a>: \u201cTwo years ago today, the Supreme Court historically returned decisions regarding abortion policies to state-elected representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

America First Policy Institute<\/a>: \u201cBrooke Leslie Rollins is originally from Glen Rose, Texas, and serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of AFPI. <\/strong>Rollins was formerly Director of the Domestic Policy Council and Chief Strategist in the White House under President Donald Trump, where she also previously served as Director of the Office of American Innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cFor the America First Policy Institute, which is helping to implement Project 2025<\/strong>, its grandest ambitions lie in soliciting governors and state attorneys general to the cause, among others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump \u201cproudly\u201d overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and paved the way for extreme abortion bans across the country, including allowing Texas\u2019 draconian trigger law to take effect.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe law was implemented some nine months before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Researchers warn the findings may foreshadow changes in other states that now ban abortion in all or most instances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInfant deaths from fetal abnormalities, the leading cause of death for babies under a year of age, rose by 22.9 percent in Texas in 2022 but fell by 3.1 percent for the rest of the country, the study found. Infant deaths from unintentional injuries also increased by 20.7 percent in Texas in the same period, compared to 1.1 percent nationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut ProPublica obtained reports that confirm that at least two women have already died after they couldn\u2019t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThurman\u2019s case marks the first time an abortion-related death, officially deemed \u2018preventable,\u2019 is coming to public light. ProPublica will share the story of the second in the coming days\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut since abortion was banned or restricted in 22 states over the past two years, women in serious danger have been turned away from emergency rooms and told that they needed to be in more peril before doctors could help. <\/strong>Some have been forced to continue high-risk pregnancies that threatened their lives. Those whose pregnancies weren\u2019t even viable have been told they could return when they were \u2018crashing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, Vance, and MAGA Republicans are pushing their extreme anti-choice Project 2025 agenda to ban abortion nationwide \u2014 with or without Congress \u2014 and are promising anti-choice extremists will \u201calways have a seat\u201d at their table.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance: \u201cMy view is that Donald Trump is the leader of the Republican Party and his views on abortion are going to be the views that dominate this party and drive this party forward.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Project 2025] explicitly names their intention not just to rescind FDA approval for the abortion pill if they regain control of the White House in 2024, but to revive a 150-year-old law that criminalizes sending or receiving through the mail any \u201carticle, instrument, substance, drug, medicine or thing\u201d that could be used to facilitate an abortion. That law, the Comstock Act, is viewed as a de facto federal abortion ban by reproductive rights advocates and anti-abortion activists alike\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe attacks on mifepristone and resurrection of Comstock stand out as particularly harmful proposals, but they are only two of the dozens of ways the Republicans behind Project 2025 envision restricting access to abortion and contraception if they win the White House next year. Elsewhere in the document, there are proposals to eliminate the morning-after pill from the Affordable Care Act\u2019s contraceptive mandate under the rationale that it is a \u2018potential abortifacient.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump\u2019s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance\u2019s anti-choice record includes wanting abortion to be \u201cillegal nationally,\u201d celebrating Trump\u2019s overturning of <\/strong>Roe<\/em><\/strong>, attacking exceptions for rape and incest, and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring a podcast interview in January 2022, then-candidate JD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cDuring his campaign for Senate, Vance applauded the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supported Texas\u2019s ban on abortion, which does not allow exceptions other than cases where the mother\u2019s life is at risk.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Two wrongs don\u2019t make a right,\u2019 he said in 2021 when asked whether abortion laws should allow for exceptions for rape and incest.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REALITY CHECK: Attacks on reproductive rights, like Trump and Vance\u2019s anti-choice Project 2025 agenda to rip away reproductive freedoms, are wildly unpopular.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide.<\/strong> By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
