In response to Donald Trump doubling down on his praise for authoritarianism, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump wants to be a dictator on \u2018day one\u2019 so badly that he can\u2019t stop fawning over authoritarians and promising Americans they \u2018won\u2019t have to vote anymore\u2019 if he wins. The Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s Project 2025 agenda would gut checks and balances and replace the rule of law with the rule of Trump \u2014 and Trump is already setting the stage for more political violence, warning of a \u2018bloodbath\u2019 if he loses. The American people believe in our democracy, and want no part of Trump\u2019s extreme vision to tear it down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Donald Trump once again fawned over a foreign authoritarian, envious of how \u201cthey can do whatever they want.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cSo, listen to how good it is, it\u2019s so easy. It\u2019s so easy. China\u2019s used it for years, but we have a better plan than them. But they\u2019ve used it for years. They can do whatever they want. You know, we have to go through certain, certain hurdles. But not much.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PBS News, 2018<\/a>: \u201cChinese President Xi Jinping recently consolidated power. Trump told the gathering: \u2018He\u2019s now president for life. President for life. And he\u2019s great.\u2019 Trump added, \u2018I think it\u2019s great. Maybe we\u2019ll give that a shot someday.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has told Americans that they \u201cwon\u2019t have to vote anymore,\u201d vowed to be a dictator on \u201cday one,\u201d has warned of a \u201cbloodbath\u201d if he loses in November, and is seeking power to go after his opponents\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cYou won\u2019t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what \u2013 it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won\u2019t have to vote anymore.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Scott, ABC News<\/a>: \u201c140 police officers were assaulted [on January 6].<\/strong> Their injuries included broken bones, at least one officer lost an eye, one had two cracked ribs, two smashed spinal discs, another had a stroke. Were the people who assaulted those 140 officers, including those I just mentioned, \u2018patriots\u2019 who deserve pardons?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
