You don\u2019t have to look far for evidence that JD Vance would embolden Donald Trump\u2019s most extreme impulses \u2013 just ask Ohioans. As their senator, Vance betrayed Ohioans\u2019 economic interests and attacked their personal freedoms. Now, he wants to use Trump\u2019s Project 2025 agenda to move America backwards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To remind voters of JD Vance\u2019s failed record in Ohio ahead of tonight\u2019s vice presidential debate, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Stephanie Justice released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance has had no problems selling out Ohio. In the Senate, Vance has carried water for billionaires while attacking Ohioans\u2019 fundamental freedoms and buddying up to the chief architects of Donald Trump\u2019s Project 2025 agenda. Now, as Trump\u2019s running mate, Vance is taking his extremism nationwide \u2013 trying to sell the American people on Trump\u2019s cost-raising, anti-freedom agenda. Tonight on the debate stage, Governor Tim Walz will make clear that he and Vice President Harris are the only candidates in this race fighting for working families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance has been the long-time poster boy for Project 2o25. Before his Ohio Senate run, Vance championed a report from the architects of Project 2025 and \u201cbonded\u201d with Project 2025\u2019s chief architect after becoming Ohio\u2019s senator. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYears before he became the Republican vice-presidential nominee, JD Vance endorsed a little-noticed 2017 report by the Heritage Foundation that proposed a sweeping conservative agenda to restrict sexual and reproductive freedoms and remake American families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Vance wrote a preface to a Heritage report in 2017, several years before Mr. Roberts took the helm at the organization. The two met and bonded over the course of a two-hour conversation shortly after Mr. Vance was elected to the Senate in 2022, Ms. Bonham said, comparing notes on their similar upbringings and policy views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Roberts happened to be holding a news conference on July 15, at Heritage\u2019s Republican convention event, when Mr. Trump announced that Mr. Vance would be his running mate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018You will see a broad smile on my face,\u2019 he told reporters. \u2018As you may know, we are good friends.\u2019 Vance, he said, was \u2018someone that privately we were really rooting for.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Ohioans beat back the state\u2019s extreme abortion ban made possible by Donald Trump, Vance called the victory for reproductive freedom a \u201cgut punch.\u201d Ohioans have called Vance out for his dangerous positions on reproductive health care. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cmore than 260 doctors from the Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights\u2014a nonpartisan group whose members initiated and helped draft the state\u2019s ballot measure securing the constitutional right to abortion in Ohio last year\u2014condemned Trump\u2019s selection of Vance as his running mate, citing Vance\u2019s lengthy anti-abortion record. A letter from the group\u2014signed by physicians who practice a variety of specialties, not just OB\/GYNs who perform abortions, including pediatrics, family and internal medicine, and child and adolescent psychology\u2014outlined the dangers of what it calls \u2018the Trump-Vance anti-reproductive freedom agenda.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance and Donald Trump\u2019s Project 2025 agenda is a threat to IVF access. In the Senate, Vance had multiple opportunities to protect IVF access for Ohioans and all Americans. Instead he voted against the measure in June and didn\u2019t even bother to show up for a second vote in September. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before becoming the Republican vice presidential nominee, JD Vance became a darling of Silicon Valley billionaires. Tech billionaires bankrolled Vance\u2019s campaign for Senate and Vance is now paying them back by peddling Donald Trump\u2019s tax scam to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy while hiking costs on working families.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Vance\u2019s stint in tech was crucial for forging connections with billionaire executives and investors, including Mr. Thiel, Mr. Sacks and Elon Musk, who owns X. Over and over, those men have funded Mr. Vance\u2019s political ambitions, raised his profile among other wealthy donors and on social media, and lobbied Mr. Trump to choose him as his running mate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore the 2022 midterm elections, Mr. Thiel gave $15 million to support Mr. Vance\u2019s campaign for the Senate. Mr. Sacks donated $1 million to a political action committee backing Mr. Vance\u2019s run.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has shown Ohioans he can\u2019t be trusted. As a candidate, he slammed the Biden-Harris administration\u2019s infrastructure investments for Ohio. Now as Ohio\u2019s senator, he\u2019s embracing the funds he publicly attacked. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
