In response to JD Vance admitting that \u201c<\/em>a lot of Americans\u2026disagree\u201d<\/em><\/a> with the Trump-Vance ticket\u2019s extremely unpopular anti-choice agenda including ending Roe v. Wade, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCorrect.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump and JD Vance\u2019s extreme anti-choice agenda is overwhelmingly unpopular with voters.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide. By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cMost Americans support abortion access one year after Roe v. Wade: poll\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cA 64% majority of US adults say they disapprove of last year\u2019s Supreme Court ruling that women do not have a constitutional right to an abortion, with half strongly disapproving \u2013 an assessment that\u2019s almost entirely unchanged from CNN\u2019s poll last July in the immediate wake of the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance\u2019s anti-choice record includes wanting abortion to be \u201cillegal nationally,\u201d attacking exceptions for rape and incest, bailing on reproductive freedoms, pushing to defund Planned Parenthood, and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring a podcast interview in January 2022, then-candidate JD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI am 100 percent pro-life<\/strong>, and believe that abortion has turned our society into a place where we see children as an inconvenience to be thrown away rather than a blessing to be nurtured. \u201cBut ProPublica obtained reports that confirm that at least two women have already died after they couldn\u2019t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThurman\u2019s case marks the first time an abortion-related death, officially deemed \u2018preventable,\u2019 is coming to public light. ProPublica will share the story of the second in the coming days\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s part of the 180-Day Playbook produced by Project 2025, detailing priorities for an incoming conservative president on day one.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cAnti-abortion advocates worked for five decades to topple Roe v. Wade. They\u2019re now laying the groundwork for a yearslong fight to curb in vitro fertilization.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince the Alabama Supreme Court ruled last month that frozen embryos are children, the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups have been strategizing how to convince not just GOP officials but evangelicals broadly that they should have serious moral concerns about fertility treatments like IVF and that access to them should be curtailed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media Matters<\/a>: \u201cThe Heritage Foundation quietly released draconian new IVF policy recommendations for the next GOP president\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHeritage has been a staunchly anti-IVF voice, supporting Alabama\u2019s controversial Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos cultivated through IVF treatment have the same rights as living children, and that a person can be held liable for destroying embryos.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 19th<\/a>: \u201cRNC approves platform that would give rights to fetuses, endangering abortion, IVF\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFetal personhood is widely seen as being in conflict with in vitro fertilization (IVF), which creates embryos outside of the uterus that are later implanted. Fetal personhood bestows the same rights currently reserved for people to embryos from the moment of fertilization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reproductive Freedom for All<\/a>: \u201cThe extensive mandate calls to gut reproductive freedom, including effectively banning medication abortion, ending access to emergency abortion care, attacking contraception, deploying fetal personhood, and undermining IVF in federal policy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cProject 2025 includes personhood language and policies that propagate the belief that life begins at conception\u2014which could have devastating impacts should it be put into law. This so-called \u201cpersonhood\u201d language could ban not only abortion but also some forms of birth control and assisted fertility treatments like IVF.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
