In response to Donald Trump trying to cover for his dangerous record of paving the way for threats to IVF access, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s latest unhinged lie is that he\u2019s the \u2018father of IVF,\u2019 a procedure that has been helping Americans start or grow their families for decades, which Trump has now put at risk. Trump\u2019s ties to the extreme anti-IVF movement run deep \u2013 his own VP pick even voted against enshrining basic protections for IVF access into law. If given the chance, Trump and his Project 2025 allies will take their extreme anti-choice agenda even further and threaten IVF access and reproductive freedoms nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump\u2019s latest \u201c<\/strong>objectively absurd<\/strong><\/a>\u201d claim is that he\u2019s the \u201cfather of IVF.\u201d The reality is Trump actually made attacks on IVF access possible by \u201cproudly\u201d overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s claim that he is the \u2018father of IVF\u2019 is not only false, it\u2019s objectively absurd.<\/strong> In the same town hall, he said that he had to ask Sen. Katie Britt to explain IVF to him. Those two statements are completely at odds with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edward-Isaac Dovere, CNN<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I\u2019m the father of IVF,\u2019 Trump said at his Fox town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIVF was first done successfully in 1978. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe only reason IVF access became an issue now is b\/c of Dobbs, made possible by [Trump\u2019s] appointments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn September, Vance skipped the vote on a \u201cRight to IVF\u201d bill on the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cHow the reversal of Roe v. Wade led to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos are children\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[The Alabama ruling was] made possible by the Supreme Court\u2019s overturning of Roe v. Wade in its 2022 Dobbs decision, which was a result of Mr. Trump\u2019s appointment of three justices.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of Roe v. Wade\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLike many Republicans, Trump\u2019s words of support don\u2019t align with his past actions on IVF. The current Republican presidential nominee \u2015 who has repeatedly bragged about his role in repealing federal abortion protections \u2015 has deep ties to extreme right-wing organizations that actively oppose IVF.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring his time as president, Trump appointed several extreme anti-IVF advocates to positions of power [\u2026]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbortion rights advocates have warned that the anti-choice movement would come for IVF and fertility treatments once Roe v. Wade<\/em> fell. Currently, more than a dozen states are considering laws that would enshrine fetal personhood, threatening IVF and other fertility treatments.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
