After JD Vance told reporters to \u201cshut the hell up\u201d in response to Donald Trump\u2019s own former chief of staff labeling him a \u201cfascist,\u201d <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s closest aides and handlers \u2013 including<\/a> JD Vance \u2013 know the truth about Trump\u2019s dangerous disregard for the rule of law and his desire to wield unchecked power against his fellow Americans. Vance\u2019s public outbursts aren\u2019t going to change the fact that those who know Trump best are warning all Americans that he\u2019s a threat to our democracy \u2013 and that he would be even more dangerous in a second term.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance\u2019s response to a question about John Kelly calling Trump a \u201cfascist\u201d and revealing his praise for Hitler\u2019s generals was \u201cshut the hell up about what happened four years ago.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question<\/a>: \u201cMy question is I wanted to get your reaction to President Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, who told the New York Times that Trump could rule like a dictator and meets the definition of a fascist. Just want to get your reaction, sir.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance: \u201cYeah. Look, you could just, look you could just record the boos of the crowd and that\u2019s my response to that question. […] Talk about the future, Kamala Harris, talk about what you want to do, and shut the hell up about what happened four years ago<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New recordings of Kelly reveal Trump\u2019s former chief of staff calling him a \u201cfascist\u201d and saying that Trump wanted \u201cthe kind of generals Hitler had.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Atlantic<\/a>: \u201cAs his presidency drew to a close, and in the years since, he has become more and more interested in the advantages of dictatorship, and the absolute control over the military that he believes it would deliver. \u2018I need the kind of generals that Hitler had,\u2019 Trump said in a private conversation in the White House<\/strong>, according to two people who heard him say this. \u2018People who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[Kelly] said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law. […]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Trump\u2019s recent comments about using the military against what he called the \u2018enemy within\u2019 were so dangerous, he said, that he felt he had to speak out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018And I think this issue of using the military on \u2014 to go after \u2014 American citizens is one of those things I think is a very, very bad thing \u2014 even to say it for political purposes to get elected \u2014 I think it\u2019s a very, very bad thing, let alone actually doing it,\u2019 Mr. Kelly said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, who is vowing to be a dictator on \u201cday one,\u201d told voters they \u201cwon\u2019t have to vote anymore\u201d if he\u2019s elected president. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cYou won\u2019t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what \u2013 it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won\u2019t have to vote anymore.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is still pushing lies about his loss by over 7 million votes in the 2020 election. Vance is right there with him, even refusing to commit to accepting this November\u2019s results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201c[Trump] is flooding the airwaves and his social media platform with distortions, misinformation and unfounded conspiracy theories about his defeat.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cRe-litigating the 2020 election, repeating false claims it was stolen and casting aspersions on the security of mail voting remain major fixtures for [Trump] on the stump.<\/strong> [\u2026] He regularly refers to the 2020 election as \u2018rigged\u2019 on his social media channels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] said he would accept a Biden win only if he considered the election to be legitimate. [\u2026] Vance\u2019s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers, who are now placing conditions on accepting election results.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors<\/strong>, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would\u2019ve been a much better thing for the country. [\u2026] [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it would\u2019ve been extraordinarily disappointing to a whole host of people that I care a lot about if Trump had just taken it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cNo real Republican with any credibility in the party is still blaming [Trump for January 6].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
