Trump\u2019s Project 2025<\/a> federal funding freeze continues to have disastrous consequences for Americans across the country, this time depriving Virginians of critical health care. From Day 1, Trump has launched repeated assaults on Americans\u2019 health care: he revoked<\/a> executive orders to strengthen Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act and to lower drug prices, tapped Dr. Oz<\/a> to gut Medicare and Medicaid, and picked RFK Jr.<\/a>, who doesn\u2019t believe in health care access, to run HHS. As Trump continues to put Americans last and attack critical health care access, working families and patients are stuck paying the price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s a look at how Trump is gutting critical health care for Virginians: <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

VPM News<\/a>: \u201cHalf of Virginia\u2019s community health centers have been cut off from federal grant money, forcing some to stop providing certain services and others to close branches.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe commonwealth has 31 Federally Qualified Health Centers with over 200 locations<\/strong> \u2014 a majority of which serve rural areas with limited access to medical care.<\/strong> Annually, about 400,000 Virginians rely on the care<\/strong> provided by these nonprofit, community-based centers, according to the Virginia Community Healthcare Association. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince Jan. 28, 16 of the state\u2019s FQHCs have been unable to access federal funding<\/strong> that allows them to pay employees, according to Joe Stevens, a VCHA spokesperson. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDespite the delayed spending freeze, multiple community health centers across Virginia have been unable to access their federal grants <\/strong>\u2014 blocking one of their three primary funding sources, along with Medicaid reimbursements and private insurance policy revenue. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCAHN\u2019s message to patients reiterated that the consolidation of services would have no impact on patient care. But Stevens said not all affected FQHCs have the benefit of multiple nearby locations.<\/strong> \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
