DNC files Amicus Brief in voter protection case in Georgia<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known as Donald Trump\u2019s \u201c<\/em>Pitbulls<\/em><\/a>,\u201d the Georgia State Election Board continues to attack and silence voters<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Democratic National Committee filed an amicus brief in a case against the Georgia State Election Board, part of the DNC\u2019s continued efforts to protect Georgians from Republicans\u2019 shameless attacks on their voting rights. The brief takes on MAGA Republicans on the State Election Board as they try to enact the \u201chand count\u201d rule and the \u201creasonable inquiry\u201d rule \u2013 which would let local officials delay election results and certification when the outcome doesn\u2019t suit Republicans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are 633 days away from the midterm elections and the DNC is taking nothing for granted in our fight to defend our democracy and ensure that ballots are counted fairly, quickly, and accurately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo the great annoyance of MAGA Republicans in Georgia, the DNC is making it clear: there are no off-days when it comes to protecting democracy. Politicians don\u2019t decide our elections \u2013 voters do. As Republican officials in Georgia have made clear, these new rules were made up by Republicans in the run-up to November\u2019s election and don\u2019t make our elections fairer or stronger, they are an attempt to sow distrust in our elections. Democrats are standing on the side of Georgians \u2013 the only people who should decide their state\u2019s elections. \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
