While Donald Trump hits the worst approval rating ever for any president at this point in their term (except for himself in his first one of course), his billionaire Cabinet and shadow president Elon Musk are busy enriching themselves at working families\u2019 expense \u2013 and the American people are having <\/em>none of it<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s billionaire backer (and shadow president) Elon Musk has gotten $154 billion richer since Election Day \u2026 and watched as the money rolls in from federal contracts while he freezes programs working families rely on.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Bernie Sanders<\/a>: \u201cElon Musk spent $277 million to elect Donald Trump President. Since Election Day, he has become $154 billion richer.<\/strong> Not a bad return on his investment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Mail<\/a>: \u201cThe federal government awarded Elon Musk’s company a $38.85 million contract on Monday as the billionaire works to slash other contracts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cMr. Musk\u2019s companies secured $13 billion in contracts over the past five years<\/strong>, making SpaceX, which collects most of that money, one of the biggest government contractors. There is already talk during the Trump administration of expanding these deals, particularly at the Air Force.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American people are having none of it: most Americans now disapprove of Musk\u2019s role in the Trump administration after he\u2019s tried to gut consumer watchdogs and rip apart critical programs from Head Start to health clinics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quinnipiac Poll<\/a>: \u201cMajority Disapprove Of Elon Musk\u2019s Role In Trump Administration\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVoters 53 – 39 percent disapprove of Elon Musk playing a prominent role in the Trump administration<\/strong>, similar to Quinnipiac University’s December 18 poll.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mother Jones<\/a>: \u201cA poll from the Economist\/YouGov also showed that 51 percent of Americans believe Musk has a lot of influence in the government, while only 13 percent want him to have that much influence<\/strong>; 46 percent, on the other hand, don\u2019t want him to have any influence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Economist\/YouGov<\/a>: Last November, 47% of Republicans wanted Elon Musk very involved with the government. Today, only 26% of Republicans support Musk\u2019s involvement<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP-NORC<\/a>: <\/em><\/strong>6 in 10<\/strong> U.S. adults say it is a bad thing for the president to rely on billionaires<\/strong> for advice about government policy, while only about 1 in 10 call it a very or somewhat good thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Trump himself isn\u2019t doing any better: his favorability is already underwater as voters give him the worst approval rating for any president at this point in his term \u2013 except for himself in his first one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morning Consult: <\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u201cFor the first time this year, Trump\u2019s favorability rating has fallen underwater\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gallup<\/a>: \u201cPresident Donald Trump\u2019s initial job approval rating for his second term is similar to the inaugural 45% reading during his first term, again placing him below all other elected presidents dating back to 1953.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBS News Poll<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cBut one key issue looms: most Americans say the administration isn\u2019t focused enough on lowering prices. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
