In response to Donald Trump trying to <\/em>cover<\/em><\/a> for his dangerous record of paving the way for threats to IVF access, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be clear about who is to blame for threats to IVF access: Donald Trump, who \u2018proudly\u2019 overturned Roe v. Wade<\/em> and opened the door to these attacks in the first place. Trump has deep ties to anti-choice extremists, and his own vice president even voted to block legislation codifying basic protections for IVF. While Trump tries to cover his tracks and hide his record, his anti-IVF allies continue to attack reproductive freedoms nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump has tried this before: He made an\u201c<\/strong>objectively absurd<\/strong><\/a>\u201d claim that he\u2019s the \u201cfather of IVF\u201d \u2014 when the reality is Trump made attacks on IVF access possible by \u201cproudly\u201d overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s claim that he is the \u2018father of IVF\u2019 is not only false, it\u2019s objectively absurd.<\/strong> In the same town hall, he said that he had to ask Sen. Katie Britt to explain IVF to him. Those two statements are completely at odds with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edward-Isaac Dovere, CNN<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I\u2019m the father of IVF,\u2019 Trump said at his Fox town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIVF was first done successfully in 1978. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe only reason IVF access became an issue now is b\/c of Dobbs, made possible by [Trump\u2019s] appointments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn September, Vance skipped the vote on a \u2018Right to IVF\u2019 bill on the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cHow the reversal of Roe v. Wade led to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos are children\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[The Alabama ruling was] made possible by the Supreme Court\u2019s overturning of Roe v. Wade in its 2022 Dobbs decision, which was a result of Mr. Trump\u2019s appointment of three justices.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade<\/em> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me,<\/strong> and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade <\/em><\/strong>\u2026<\/strong> Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring his time as president, Trump appointed several extreme anti-IVF advocates to positions of power \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbortion rights advocates have warned that the anti-choice movement would come for IVF and fertility treatments once Roe v. Wade<\/em> fell.
