Republicans are taking heat from their constituents for not standing up against Donald Trump and Elon Musk\u2019s destructive agenda in town halls in deep red districts in Georgia, Wisconsin, Alaska, and Oregon <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

America is turning against Donald Trump and Elon Musk \u2013 including the people from the very districts that voted for Republicans last year. In deeply red House districts in Georgia, Wisconsin, Alaska, and Oregon, constituents are already raising alarm bells over Trump giving Elon Musk and DOGE unlimited and unchecked power to harm communities. People across the country are furious that Trump and Musk abandoned their campaign promise to bring down costs, instead choosing to smash-and-grab funds that go to kids, families, and seniors to gift massive tax cuts to corrupt billionaires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the question becomes:<\/strong> Will Republicans like Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-07), Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05), Rep. Cliff Bentz (OR-02), and Rep. Nick Begich (AK-AL) flee Donald Trump\u2019s sinking ship? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or will they continue to spinelessly stand by Trump and Musk\u2019s \u201cMake America Corrupt Again\u201d agenda as their own approval ratings plummet?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>THIS WEEK: U.S. Republican representatives in Georgia, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Alaska were heckled by their constituents for their support of Donald Trump\u2019s MAGA agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta Journal Constitution<\/a>: \u201cGeorgia congressman confronted by angry crowd over support for Trump’s agenda\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cU.S. Rep. Rich McCormick was peppered with boos and catcalls throughout a town hall meeting in Roswell late Thursday<\/strong>, as hundreds of critics jeered the Republican for backing President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda during his first month in office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Suwanee Republican\u2019s staff expected a robust turnout for his first town hall since Trump took office. But they seemed caught off guard by the massive crowd of hundreds that gathered outside Roswell City Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAttendees set the tone early, with one accusing McCormick of \u2018doing us a disservice\u2019 for supporting the budget-slashing initiatives by Elon Musk\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency that have torn through all corners of federal government. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the sharpest exchanges came after one attendee questioned McCormick on the DOGE-backed cuts of roughly 1,000 workers at the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMcCormick said he has been in \u2018close contact\u2019 with the CDC and that \u2018a lot of the work they do is duplicitous with AI\u2019 as some in the audience groaned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA testy town hall hosted by Wisconsin<\/strong> Republican Congressman Scott Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe pushback came from constituents in West Bend demanding answers to the Trump administration’s effort to slash government spending and a diplomatic shift on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf there were Trump voters in the room, none spoke up in support of Trump’s first month efforts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baker City Herald<\/a>: \u201cCongressman Cliff Bentz fields questions about Trump, federal firings, Musk during Baker City town hall\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMuch of Bentz’s presentation, and many of the questions from the audience, dealt with President Donald Trump’s executive orders and the actions of the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump received about 73% of the votes in Baker County in the November 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeveral audience members made it clear, though, from their statements and from their reactions to both questions and Bentz’s answers, that they don’t support the administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaskan Public Radio<\/a>: \u201cBegich town hall meeting yields gripes, fury and sprinkles of praise\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome Alaskans were bursting to ask tough questions of their congressman, Nick Begich, at a virtual meeting he held Monday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe hadn\u2019t said much to publicly address constituent concerns since the Trump administration began firing federal workers and freezing grant funding, so there was pent-up demand. More than 3,000 people participated in what was billed as a telephone town hall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angry and frustrated constituents voiced their concerns about Georgia Congressman Rich McCormick\u2019s inability to stand up to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE\u2019s unchecked power \u2014 showcasing just how out-of-touch Trump\u2019s MAGA agenda is with the American people, even Republicans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constituent Question on Trump\u2019s Presidential Powers<\/a>: \u201cTyranny is rising in the White House and a man has declared himself our king, so I would like to know, rather the people would like to know, what you, congressman, and your fellow congressmen are going to do to rein in the megalomanic in the White House?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constituent Question on DOGE and CDC Firings<\/a>: \u201cTrying to do more with less, that\u2019s reasonable \u2014 what\u2019s not reasonable is taking this chainsaw approach which [DOGE] obviously admits when they fire these people and then decided that \u2018we\u2019ve fired the wrong people, we gotta bring them back in.\u2019 Why is this being jammed down the pipes so rushed and sloppily?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Wisconsin, Oregon, and Alaska, constituents came to town halls demanding answers from Republicans for doing nothing to rein in Elon Musk.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TMJ4<\/a>: \u201c\u2018How can we be represented by you if you don’t have a voice in Congress?\u2019 asked Lorraine Henrickson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey didn’t like some of Scott Fitzgerald’s answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018The end result of the fraud and abuse that has been discovered already,\u2019 Fitzgerald said before getting pushback from the audience. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMary Sylvester asked about the role and responsibility of Congress. \u2018We need three branches of government, not one. When will you stand up and say that\u2019s enough?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMichael Wittig is concerned with Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration\u2014he held a sign that read \u2018Presidents are not kings.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rep. Cliff Bentz (OR-02) Constituent<\/a>: \u201cI will say that I\u2019m not a Democrat \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been through downsizing [the government] before and you can do it in a way that is humane and treats people with dignity and doesn\u2019t fire them on the spot for \u2018performance\u2019 when we all know how hard these people work. It\u2019s your job to make sure that people follow the laws.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
