Tomorrow night, Donald Trump will take the stage for his address to the joint session of Congress as the least popular president in modern American history at this point in his term. Staring down the threat of a Trump Recession, the American people will not hear solutions for any real problems they face. Instead, they will hear from a man bought and paid for by fat cat billionaires. They will hear excuses for his failure to deliver on the promises he made to the American people. They will hear the hollow words of a president who is as malicious as he is incompetent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has always promised to be a voice for the left behind. But since the moment he first took office, Trump has made it clear who he speaks for: corrupt billionaires, ultra-wealthy scam artists, and Vladimir Putin. And he couldn\u2019t care less about working families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Capitol, he will be surrounded by his billionaire Cabinet \u2014 the richest in American history \u2014 and his shadow president, Elon Musk. Despite promising to lower costs on \u201cDay One,\u201d Trump\u2019s unpopular agenda is threatening to tank the economy and skyrocket inflation. Costs are rising, and consumer confidence just registered the sharpest monthly decline in four years. His dangerous funding freezes and mass firings<\/a> have put seniors, kids, and families already struggling to make ends meet at risk. And now, in the halls of Congress, his MAGA lackeys are advancing a budget plan that would take money out of the pockets of working people, kick millions off their health insurance, and take food off the table of low-income families in order to give a massive tax handout to the richest 1%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter what lies he spews tomorrow, the reality is Trump isn\u2019t just breaking the promises he made to the American people \u2014 he\u2019s playing politics with their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump Isn\u2019t Just Failing to Deliver on His Promises \u2014 He\u2019s Making Things Worse<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>\u201cMaking America affordable again<\/a>\u201d\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Prices are climbing<\/a> under Trump while economists predict \u201ca serious Trump recession\u201d<\/a> and consumer confidence plummets<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE:<\/strong> \u201cRapidly defeat<\/a>\u201d inflation on Day One<\/a>
BROKEN: <\/strong>Barely a month into his presidency, Trump admitted<\/a> \u201cinflation is back\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>No cuts to Medicaid or Social Security (even after he tried to gut them every year<\/a> of his first term)
BROKEN: <\/strong>Republicans are pushing a budget (with Trump\u2019s blessing<\/a>) that would put Medicaid on the chopping block<\/a> while DOGE threatens to slash<\/a> the Social Security Administration<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>No Project 2025 in his administration\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Trump\u2019s administration is stacked with Project 2025 contributors and allies \u2013 including its \u201ckey architect<\/a>\u201d Russ Vought \u2013 and are now following through on their Day One<\/a> agenda of mass firings<\/a> and devastating cuts<\/a> to programs for working families<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Lower mortgage rates to 3% and \u201cmaybe even lower than that<\/a>\u201d to make housing more affordable
BROKEN: <\/strong>DOGE cuts to the Department of Housing and Urban Development are likely to worsen<\/a> housing markets and upend mortgages<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Reduce energy prices by 50%<\/a> and bring down the price of gas to under $2 a gallon\u00a0<\/a>
BROKEN: <\/strong>Gas prices are set to rise<\/a> across the country under Trump<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised to \u201cprotect our workers [and] \u2026 protect our jobs<\/a>\u201d\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Trump and Musk\u2019s reckless mass firings forced<\/a> small businesses to lay off employees, losing thousands<\/a> of private sector jobs\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised<\/a> to make IVF free
BROKEN: <\/strong>Trump\u2019s executive order<\/a> on IVF doesn\u2019t actually make it free<\/a> at all <\/strong>\u2013 and his role in overturning Roe v. Wade<\/em> is the only reason it\u2019s at risk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised to take care of veterans \u201cproperly<\/a>\u201d
BROKEN: <\/strong>Fired thousands of veterans<\/a> while simultaneously gutting<\/a> VA health care\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised no individual assistance would be affected by his federal funding freeze\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Critical programs like Head Start<\/a>, Meals on Wheels<\/a>, and community health centers<\/a> were unable to access funding\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised to \u201cput money into the pockets of American consumers<\/a>\u201d\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Shuttered<\/a> the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has put $21 billion<\/a> back in the pockets of hardworking Americans\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised there would be no conflicts of interest<\/a> with Musk leading DOGE, telling Americans that Musk would recuse himself<\/a>\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Musk was given $2 billion<\/a> and $38 million<\/a> contracts from agencies he was overseeing, his wealth has grown by over $200 billion<\/a> since Election Day, and the Justice Department dropped a legal case against<\/a> SpaceX\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised to end the revolving door<\/a> between lobbyists and government officials\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>On Day One, Trump rolled back ethics rules<\/a> and fired<\/a> administration watchdogs that police<\/a> conflicts of interest, while nominating people to lead the Interior<\/a>, <\/a>Transportation<\/a>, and Energy<\/a> Departments with conflicts of interest in the industries they now regulate\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised to \u201cmake America safe again<\/a>\u201d
BROKEN: <\/strong>Put our national security at risk with his unqualified and unfit Cabinet nominations for Director of National Intelligence<\/a> and FBI Director<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISE: <\/strong>Promised<\/a> to bring safety back to America\u00a0
BROKEN: <\/strong>Fired critical FAA air traffic controllers<\/a> after a major plane crash, froze the hiring of much-needed firefighters<\/a> on the eve of fire season, and stalled several counternarcotics efforts<\/a> in Mexico to stop fentanyl\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
