Voters nationwide continue to show how outraged they are at Trump and House Republicans\u2019 agenda that places vital programs like health care on the chopping block in order to pay for billionaires\u2019 tax cuts \u2013 and Republicans can\u2019t take the heat. From storming out of their own town halls to now flat out avoiding their voters, Republicans continue to abandon the people who sent them to Washington and know they are in trouble next November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:\u00a0<\/em>
<\/strong>\u201cIt comes as no surprise that Republican leaders are telling their members to hide from their own constituents, because their constituents are furious about the malicious incompetence and brazen con game happening in Washington right now. Instead of making life better for people, Trump and House Republicans are putting programs like Medicaid on the chopping block to give massive tax breaks to billionaires. If Republicans had any courage they would face their voters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DNC Chair Ken Martin addressed Mike Johnson\u2019s lies about paid actors fueling these protests during a CNN hit this morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On CNN<\/a>: HOST: <\/strong>\u201cWe heard this from the Speaker of the House, when he was speaking to one of our anchors, he said, \u2018look, they’re sending Democrats into these town halls,\u2019 he even said that they were paid protesters and had no evidence whatsoever of that. But Speaker of the House Johnson said, \u2018look, you know, some of these are Democrats going into, into these town halls and causing trouble,\u2019 what do you say to that? And they are constituents, of these Republican congresspeople.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DNC Chair Ken Martin: \u201cWell, it’s hogwash. It’s absolute hogwash. It’s an easy thing for them to say that these are protesters or these Democrats. They are constituents who are demanding answers from their elected representatives and instead of having the courage and the spine to face the voters and actually open their ears and listen to what Americans want right now, they’re canceling these town halls left and right on the order of Speaker Johnson. They refuse to actually meet with and hear the concerns of average everyday Americans who are frustrated as hell with what this Trump administration and Elon Musk are doing right now. I will tell you what, you know, get out there, listen to voters, and they will tell you. You can see that reflected in the polls \u2014 Donald Trump’s approval ratings continue to slide right now as Americans have lost confidence in his ability to actually address the issues that are impacting their lives on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe chair of the House GOP’s campaign arm told Republican lawmakers Tuesday to stop holding in-person town halls<\/strong> amid a wave of angry backlash over the cuts undertaken by President Donald Trump’s administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the weekend, Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall and Texas Rep. Keith Self were met with anger following Trump and Elon Musk\u2019s mass firings, slashings of vital programs, and House Republicans\u2019 vote to put Medicaid on the chopping block. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KCUR<\/a>: \u201cKansas senator’s rural town hall meeting swamped by people mad at Trump administration\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCritics of actions by President Donald Trump shouted down Republican Sen. Roger Marshall at a town hall meeting in rural Kansas Saturday, causing the senator to end the meeting and leave as people shouted, booed and said \u2018you\u2019re not done.\u2019 \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe room was only meant to seat 20 people. There was double in attendance<\/strong> at the small hospital cafeteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs soon as Marshall entered the meeting, people booed and started peppering him with questions and comments about the war in Ukraine, the hollowing of federal agencies and rural health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMarshall threatened to leave not long after the meeting started.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newsweek<\/a>: \u201cTexas Republican Repeatedly Heckled at Tense Town Hall: \u2018Vote You Out\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepresentative Keith Self, a Texas Republican, faced a wave of jeers, heckling, and fierce verbal opposition during a tense town hall event<\/strong> as frustrated constituents repeatedly interrupted him with chants of \u2018vote you out!\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSelf was frequently interrupted by boos from the crowd of more than 300 people, many of whom gave thumbs-down gestures as he referenced cuts made by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, many Republicans, like Virginia Rep. Rob Wittman, are too chicken to meet their constituents face-to-face after putting the interests of billionaires above the voters they serve.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WRIC<\/a>: \u201cDozens of Henrico County residents gathered on Saturday to discuss their concerns about budget decisions made by Republican Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) regarding Medicaid and other social services. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018He was invited,\u2019 said clinical social worker and U.S. Veteran Heather DeShone. \u2018Representative Wittman has not done a face-to-face town hall in years<\/strong>\u2026 I want to be able to sit across from my representative, for the country I served \u2014 I served for this democracy \u2014 and I want my voice to be heard in the same way.\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccording to those who attended, Wittman did not show up to the gathering.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WRIC<\/a>: \u201cVirginia Congressman Rob Wittman\u2019s Mobile Office Hour location in the Midlothian area of Chesterfield County has been removed from his website.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe removal comes after hundreds of people filed into the American Legion hall in the Midlothian area of the county on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at an event hosted by Wittman\u2019s (VA-01) office and protested the GOP and President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
