In response to the February jobs report, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump is steering the economy off a cliff. Economists are already sounding the alarm on Trump\u2019s unpopular and expensive agenda, warning he could \u2018reignite inflation\u2019 and ship jobs overseas. As unemployment soars and small businesses suffer, this latest jobs report proves that Trump only cares about himself and his billionaire backers \u2014 not working families.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump\u2019s unaffordable and unpopular agenda is already damaging the economy, rolling back progress under the Biden-Harris administration while the unemployment rate \u201cunexpectedly increased\u201d last month. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cThe job market was just a touch cooler in February,<\/strong> as new job creation clocked in at 151,000, below expectations, and unemployment unexpectedly increased to 4.1%.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBS<\/a>: \u201cEmployers across the U.S. added 151,000 jobs in February, below economists’ forecasts and pointing to a slowdown in the labor market amid signs of slowing economic growth<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Trump\u2019s first full month in office, private businesses added the least number of jobs since July, as small businesses lost employees, pay gains failed to grow, and critical industries suffered declines across the board. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADP National Employment Report<\/a>: \u201cPrivate employers added 77,000 jobs in February<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHiring slowed to the smallest level of gains since July<\/strong>, with trade and transportation, health care and education, and information showing job losses. Small business employment also fell. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChange by Industry Sector \u2026 Natural resources\/mining -2,000 \u2026 Trade\/transportation\/utilities -33,000 \u2026 Education\/health services -28,000 \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor job-changers, year-over-year pay gains slowed slightly<\/strong>, from 6.8 percent in January to 6.7 percent. Pay gains for job-stayers were flat<\/strong> at 4.7 percent.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: As economists warn of a <\/strong>\u201cTrump recession,\u201d<\/strong><\/a> Americans blame Trump for rising costs and are fed up with his broken promises to get the economy back on track.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe United States economy is starting to show signs of strain <\/strong>as President Trump\u2019s abrupt moves to shrink federal spending, lay off government workers and impose tariffs on America\u2019s largest trading partners rattle businesses and reverberate across states and cities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reuters\/Ipsos<\/a>: \u201c[A] majority of Americans also believe that the national economy (53%) is off on the wrong track, as is their cost of living (64%).<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elon University<\/a>: \u201cMore than 80% of respondents said they believe tariffs will lead to increased prices<\/strong>, with 45% expecting significant hikes<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cA new CNN poll shows 62% of Americans feel Trump hasn\u2019t done enough to tackle inflation<\/strong>.
