In the lead-up to the crucial Wisconsin Supreme Court and Superintendent elections, <\/em>DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn three weeks, Wisconsin voters will have the opportunity to stand against Trump and MAGA Republicans\u2019 attacks on Wisconsinites and the programs they rely on. Wisconsin voters don\u2019t like Elon Musk running our federal government and they don\u2019t want him buying elections in Wisconsin either. It\u2019s time to elect proven leaders like Susan Crawford and Jill Underly who will move Wisconsin forward and serve Badger Staters\u2019 \u2013 not billionaires\u2019 \u2013 best interests. Democrats are working tirelessly to keep Elon Musk and his billions from corrupting Wisconsin\u2019s elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Billionaire Elon Musk is trying to buy his way onto the Wisconsin Supreme Court, putting his money behind candidate Brad Schimel, who will rescind critical fundamental freedoms and be a rubber-stamp for Trump\u2019s billionaire agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cIn Wisconsin, Musk \u2013 who spent nearly $300 million to elect Trump and Republicans in last year\u2019s federal elections \u2013 is poised to play an outsized role in the race to fill a single open seat on the seven-member state Supreme Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMusk\u2019s political action committee, America PAC, has spent $3.2 million through Thursday afternoon to aid the conservative candidate in the race, Brad Schimel, and hit the liberal contender, Susan Crawford, state records show. Another group that Musk has financially backed in the past, Building America\u2019s Future, has spent another $2 million on advertising and mailers in the race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/a>: \u201cWhen he was Waukesha County district attorney, Schimel signed onto a 2012 legal paper that advocated for a plan to make abortion illegal in nearly all cases. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Some people were talking about, \u201cWhy don’t we take that old 1849 abortion law off the books? Because you can’t enforce it anyway,\u201d\u2019 Schimel told supporters in Calumet County last summer, according to a recording shared with the Journal Sentinel. \u2018We just said, \u201cNo, just leave it. You never know. If the Supreme Court does reverse Roe v. Wade, well then we have a law in the books.\u201d\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018They are being driven by their emotions. <\/strong>A Supreme Court justice had better be able to set their personal opinions and their emotions aside and rule on the law objectively. This is \u2014 we don’t have that objectivity on this court.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Wisconsin superintendent candidate Brittany Kinser is an unfit and unqualified candidate whose campaign is built off of Republican megadonors who love that Kinser has promised to drain funds from our public schools and give them to private for-profit schools. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/a>: \u201cKinser has never had a Wisconsin teacher’s license, and her administrator’s license lapsed last summer,<\/strong> according to state records. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s unusual for those seeking the position to lack an active license.<\/strong> All seven candidates who ran for state superintendent in the previous election, for example, had an active educator’s license in 2021, according to a review of state records. So did Gov. Tony Evers, who led the DPI from 2009 through 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin Examiner<\/a>: \u201cShe has also received contributions from Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein, the billionaire owners of the Uline shipping supply company, and Beloit billionaire Diane Hendricks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin Examiner<\/a>: \u201cKinser has claimed the title of the \u2018only pro-school choice\u2019 candidate in the race <\/strong>\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKinser celebrated the historic increases in funding for Wisconsin\u2019s voucher programs<\/strong> in the last state budget as a win for \u2018parent power\u2019 in an opinion piece in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018We want to make sure all of our kids are getting a great education, and so the funding for elementary school children that receive private vouchers is much lower than if they were going to a traditional public school, so I would be an advocate for kids getting more money<\/strong>, yes, and making sure that\u2019s fair.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
