In response to today\u2019s <\/em>consumer confidence report<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump promised to lower costs on Day 1, but instead it\u2019s Day 64 and Americans\u2019 confidence in Trump\u2019s economy is falling for the second month in a row. While Trump scams working families to line his billionaire backers\u2019 pockets, Americans\u2019 expectations for future income and jobs have hit a 12-year low. Americans are making it clear: They have no faith in Trump\u2019s failing economy and are scared for the future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cThe Conference Board\u2019s report Tuesday said that the measure of Americans\u2019 short-term expectations for income, business and the job market fell 9.6 points to 65.2. That\u2019s the lowest reading in 12 years. <\/strong>The Conference Board says a reading under 80 can signal a potential recession in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUS consumer confidence fell in March to the lowest in four years on concerns about higher prices and the economic outlook amid the Trump administration\u2019s escalating tariffs. <\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsumer sentiment surveys from The Conference Board and University of Michigan have been dismal of late as households fear a resurgence in inflation from President Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs. Companies have warned of higher prices and less demand, coinciding with economists\u2019 forecasts that suggest a risk of stagflation and rising odds of recession.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInflation expectations over the coming year increased to the highest level in two years. <\/strong>A similar metric from the Michigan survey climbed in early March to the highest since 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNBC<\/a>: \u201cConsumer confidence in where the economy is headed hits 12-year low\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsumer confidence dimmed further in March as the view of future conditions fell to the lowest level in more than a decade, the Conference Board reported Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
