Despite claiming to be a \u201cchampion\u201d for women today at a Women\u2019s History Month event, the reality is Donald Trump doesn\u2019t care about protecting women\u2019s lives \u2013 instead, he put them at risk with his extreme abortion bans and attempts to end protections for emergency medical care for women around the country. Trump <\/em>admitted<\/em><\/a> he killed Roe v. Wade, opening the door to extreme abortion bans and threats to IVF access, all while his DOJ <\/em>stopped enforcing<\/em><\/a> lifesaving protections for reproductive health care access under his dangerous and <\/em>unpopular<\/em><\/a> Project 2025 agenda. Trump can\u2019t hide from his extreme record \u2014 and women are dying and families are suffering because of his dangerous agenda. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Trump tried to claim he is a \u201cchampion\u201d for women and \u201cprotecting women,\u201d ignoring all the ways he has risked women\u2019s lives with his extreme agenda. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cUnder the Trump administration … we’re protecting women’s rights, defending women’s dignity, and standing up for the American moms and daughters … American women have never had bigger champions than all of us in the White House, I mean it’s me \u2026\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After laying the groundwork to rip away reproductive freedoms on Day One, Donald Trump is still trying to ban abortion nationwide. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Republic<\/a>: \u201cTrump Sneaks Dangerous Rights for Fetuses Into Executive Order\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy describing a fetus as a person from conception, Trump has legitimized fetal personhood.<\/strong> \u2026 The legal language employed by fetal personhood also effectively categorizes any person receiving an abortion at any stage as a murderer.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cTrump Administration Removes Reproductive Rights Website\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTUS<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cAnti-abortion advocates say having allies in the cabinet will set the tone for abortion policies in the administration. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s agency picks could make changes that would have nationwide implications on abortion access.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Trump\u2019s \u201c<\/strong>objectively absurd<\/strong><\/a>\u201d claim that he\u2019s the \u201cfather of IVF\u201d \u2014 Trump and his MAGA minions\u2019 attacks on IVF were only made possible by Trump overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s claim that he is the \u2018father of IVF\u2019 is not only false, it\u2019s objectively absurd.<\/strong> In the same town hall, he said that he had to ask Sen. Katie Britt to explain IVF to him. Those two statements are completely at odds with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edward-Isaac Dovere, CNN<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I\u2019m the father of IVF,\u2019 Trump said at his Fox town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIVF was first done successfully in 1978. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe only reason IVF access became an issue now is b\/c of Dobbs, made possible by [Trump\u2019s] appointments.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump ended efforts to ensure pregnant women can access lifesaving, emergency medical care in the face of extreme abortion bans \u2014 a goal of his <\/strong>wildly unpopular<\/strong><\/a> Project 2025 agenda.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration is dropping a yearslong legal battle with Idaho over the right to an abortion in a medical emergency one day ahead of a major hearing \u2014 reversing its stance in one of the highest-profile cases it inherited from the Biden administration. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Biden administration\u2019s lawsuit against Idaho \u2014 a case the Supreme Court weighed and punted to lower court judges last year, saying it took up the issue prematurely \u2014 argued that Idaho\u2019s enforcement of its near-total abortion ban during medical emergencies violated Ronald Reagan-era patient protections known as EMTALA. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Heritage Foundation\u2019s Project 2025 \u2026. called on President Donald Trump to end all of the Biden administration\u2019s EMTALA investigations into hospitals that have turned pregnant patients away.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump opened the door to restrictions on access to contraceptives, like Plan B, that tens of millions of Americans rely on. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer<\/a>: \u201cDo you support any restrictions on a person\u2019s right to contraception?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump: \u201cWe\u2019re looking at that\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer<\/a>: \u201cThat suggests that you may want to support some restrictions? Like the morning after pill or something?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump: \u201cYou know, things really do have a lot to do with the states. And some states are going to have different policies than others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KKF<\/a>: \u201cThe majority of females 18 to 64 (90%) have used contraception at some point in their reproductive years<\/strong> and many have used more than one contraceptive method throughout their lifetime (76%).\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s funding freeze threatened grants for domestic violence and sexual assault centers as part of his reckless and dangerous funding cuts. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration funding cuts<\/strong> aimed at \u2018woke\u2019 federal programs have now ensnared some organizations working with a particularly vulnerable group: victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLeaders of gender-based violence nonprofits said that the freeze<\/strong> \u2014 which is the subject of a pitched legal battle \u2014 has sparked concern about how long they can continue to provide emergency shelter, legal and crisis services to abuse victims <\/strong>around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Day One, Trump has attacked the Affordable Care Act, threatening protections for millions of Americans with preexisting conditions \u2014 including for pregnant women \u2014 while spending the campaign doubling down on his promise to repeal the ACA. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
