Last week, Democrats continued hosting \u201cPeople\u2019s Town Halls,\u201d engaging local community members left behind by their Republican congressional representatives. At People\u2019s Town Halls across the country, one theme is clear: Voters are furious over Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Republicans\u2019 extreme agenda to slash Americans\u2019 health care in order to fund tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKentucky voters are expressing their frustrations with the federal government and lawmakers are facing backlash. The Kentucky Democratic Party and retired Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth held a \u2018People\u2019s Town Hall\u2019 in Lexington, the district of Republican congressman, Andy Barr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYarmuth and the KDP said voters in Lexington are scared and are getting no answers from their congressman, Andy Barr, R-Lexington, concerning cuts from the Trump administration to Medicaid, veteran\u2019s health care and food assistance. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYarmuth and KDP Chairman Colmon Elridge along with Morgan Eaves, the executive director of KDP, spoke to around 200 people at the Lyric Theater in Lexington. Much like similar town halls across the country, they called out Barr and other Republican lawmakers for not speaking directly with the voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018The way the national Republican Party feels about their policies, they\u2019re afraid to go out and defend their policies in public and I think Andy is too,\u2019 Yarmuth said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHundreds gathered at Lexington\u2019s Lyric Theatre for a town hall hosted by the Kentucky Democratic Party Wednesday night. The main goal: Mobilize Democratic voters to retake the state\u2019s Sixth District congressional seat, currently held by Republican Andy Barr \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCrowd members hit on a host of concerns from protecting Social Security to stopping cuts to veteran services, energizing younger voters, wealth inequality, and what direction the Democratic Party will take as it looks to counter GOP dominance in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKDP chair Coleman Elridge, and former Congressman John Yarmuth spoke as part of the event \u2014 with Yarmuth describing it as an \u2018anger channeling session.\u2019 Elridge urged the audience not to normalize the political moment. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith a \u2018Fire Andy Barr\u2019 sign in hand, attendee Ethan Wallace was on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018It’s happening all over the country. Republicans nationwide are telling their members not to hold town halls. Democrats are showing up. They’re listening to the people. That’s why I’m here,\u2019 he told WUKY.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Kentucky Democratic Party held what they called a \u2018people\u2019s town hall\u2019 in Lexington\u2019s Lyric Theatre Wednesday night. In a three-quarters full house, several people aired frustrations about Congressman Andy Barr and the Trump Administration. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAttendee Carol McKee of Lexington said Republicans are totally afraid of President Trump and the people fighting for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKelsen was among a group of speakers who listed off complaints about the Trump administration \u2013 and occasionally the North Dakota Legislature \u2013 at a town hall meeting organized by the Democratic-NPL Party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver the course of an hour, speakers covered topics such as potential impacts to Medicaid, the possibility of family members being deported and cuts to Social Security staff. Moderators then gave people an opportunity to voice their concerns. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeveral audience members addressed frustration with cuts to Social Security staff, long lines and long waits times when calling the Social Security Administration. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPaul Meyers, who spent 16 years on the Fargo School Board, said he was concerned about actions of the state Legislature on several issues, but especially education. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe also said the congressional delegation has not been listening to constituents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018We\u2019d like to see someone stand up to Donald Trump. And so far, our congresspeople are kneeling down.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Hey, [James]. Your constituents want to know where you\u2019ve been & why you haven\u2019t hosted a townhall,\u2019 Frost wrote Saturday. \u2018Hundreds of them came out to hear [Sen. Chris Murphy] & I fill your void today.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Heads up, they\u2019re pissed you\u2019re supporting cuts to Medicaid, Social Security, and Veterans benefits,\u2019 Frost added on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMurphy, a Democratic senator, also posted about the event on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Walking into a packed house with [Frost] in Warren, Michigan,\u2019 Murphy said. \u2018If Republicans won\u2019t hold public meetings and answer questions about their plan to gut Medicaid to pass giant billionaire tax breaks, we will.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublican US Rep. John James won\u2019t sit down to meet with voters in his district. So Democratic US Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) and US Congressman Maxwell Frost (D-Florida) are flying into Michigan on Saturday to hold a town hall meeting with Michiganders instead. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018James and President Donald Trump are pushing an agenda that will force working Michiganders to suffer to line the pockets of billionaires,\u2019 the [Michigan Democratic Party] press release states. \u2018Michiganders deserve representation that listens to their concerns and works toward solutions.\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Maxwell Frost and I have worked together for a really long time. We\u2019ve won some really big fights, but the one that we\u2019re involved in right now\u2014the fight for our democracy, the fight against corruption, this is the biggest one,\u2019 Murphy said. \u2018So, we\u2019re teaming up on this fight, too.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On WKBD<\/strong><\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cThe Michigan Democratic Party hosted a town hall over the weekend. They want accountability for the attacks on Social Security, Medicare, and veterans. The message was that the Trump presidency has had damaging effects on people in Michigan and families across the country. They also accused congressional Republicans like Representative John James of hiding from their colleagues. \u2018Everything going through the executive, solely through the executive, is unacceptable. We have Congress. They passed the budget. Just really not happy with everything going on right now.
