In response to Senate Republicans once again bending the knee to Donald Trump, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenate Republicans are once again putting Donald Trump above the Constitution and refusing to live by their oath of office. The American people have been crystal clear: They don\u2019t want leaders who sidestep Congress and the Constitution. Americans overwhelmingly do not want new wars. To quote Donald Trump: \u2018Whether you\u2019re a Republican or Democrat \u2026 you should get authorization.\u2019 It\u2019s about time Senate Republicans remember their oath is to the Constitution, not Donald Trump.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last night, Senate Republicans put Trump above the Constitution yet again, voting against a war powers resolution. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump unilaterally bombed Iran \u2014 an act of war \u2014 without congressional approval or notifying key national security leaders in Congress \u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manu Raju, CNN<\/a>: \u201cTop Dems on House and Senate Intel Committees<\/strong> \u2014 Jim Himes and Mark Warner, both members of Gang of Eight \u2014 were not briefed before the attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, per sources.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDemocrats on the Hill have been sharply critical of the Trump administration for failing to brief lawmakers on Iran<\/strong> \u2014 with multiple members pointing to the 1973 War Powers Resolution, which requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of military action <\/strong>and provide a classified briefing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: There are still questions about whether Trump\u2019s strike was successful and if the administration knows where Iran\u2019s enriched uranium is. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
