Trump\u2019s budget slashes a whopping $930 billion from Medicaid<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to a <\/em>new analysis<\/em><\/a> from the Congressional Budget Office which shows that the new Senate text of Trump\u2019s budget bill makes even steeper cuts to Medicaid in history, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump and Senate Republicans just told millions of Americans who rely on Medicaid that they don\u2019t give a damn about them. The Trump tax scam makes the largest cut to Medicaid in history, leaving millions of kids, seniors, and working class families with nowhere to turn for basic health care. This is theft in broad daylight \u2014 pickpocketing working families to give billionaires a massive tax handout. Democrats will join with the millions of Americans abandoned by Donald Trump and congressional Republicans to hold them accountable in the midterms.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Trump\u2019s request, Senate Republicans are rushing to pass the most regressive budget in the last 40 years to fund another round of tax breaks for their billionaire donors. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>\u201cIf enacted, our calculations show that the current bill would reduce income among the poorest 20 percent of Americans by an average of 3.8 percent while increasing it by 3.7 percent for the richest 20 percent<\/strong>\u2014a difference of 7.5 percentage points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLow-income families stand to lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars in income while wealthy ones will gain even more<\/strong>, according to a new analysis of Congressional Republican tax and budget proposals. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe report estimated that families with a modified adjusted gross income of less than $10,000 would lose over $2,700<\/strong> (or nearly a 15% reduction in income). Families who make between $10,000 and $20,000 would lose over $800<\/strong>, or about 4.4% reduction in income, while families who make between $20,000 and $30,000 would lose $400<\/strong>, or about 1.5% reduction in income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn comparison, families with higher incomes would benefit<\/strong> from the extension of the 2017 tax cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Americans overwhelmingly support Medicaid and oppose Trump and the GOP\u2019s devastating budget \u2014 and opposition grows the more people learn about the bill. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
