In response to Donald Trump\u2019s six-month mark in office, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery American needs to ask themselves \u2014 am I better off now than I was six months ago? Unless you\u2019re a billionaire or a big CEO, the answer is no. In six months, Donald Trump has skyrocketed prices for basic necessities, sparked an erratic trade war with no end in sight, and orchestrated the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in American history. As Trump\u2019s reckless trade agenda forces small businesses to plan for recession, working families are drowning in sky-high energy, gas, and grocery prices. Meanwhile, Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget is ripping away health care from 17 million Americans and forcing rural hospitals to shut down \u2014 all to give another tax break to his ultra-wealthy backers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump said he would bring down costs on Day One and release the Epstein files, yet more and more Americans are realizing that his promises \u2014 like their own wallets \u2014 are now empty. Democrats are fighting back \u2014 hosting town halls in all 50 states, winning races previously held by Republicans, and mobilizing voters across the country to kick Republicans out of power. The bottom line: Trump hasn\u2019t done a damn thing for working families since he was sworn in, and it\u2019s clear as day that Americans are far worse off today than they were six months ago.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc68\u200d\ud83c\udfed Nearly 2 million<\/a> construction and 2 million<\/a> clean energy manufacturing jobs are at risk. Trump and Republicans\u2019 cuts to Medicaid and SNAP endanger another 1.2 million<\/a> jobs.

\ud83c\udfe5 17 million<\/a> Americans could lose health insurance, a whopping 27% of nursing homes could be forced to close their doors, and more than 300 rural hospitals could close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf5e More than 22 million<\/a> working families could lose some or all of their food benefits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udf3e American farmers will lose an estimated $23 billion<\/a> in revenue due to SNAP cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udfe0 Experts<\/a> say it is \u201cthe most regressive tax and budget law in at least the past 40 years\u2014and possibly ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udcc9 The SNAP, Medicaid,<\/a> and energy subsidy<\/a> cuts alone will reduce the GDP by an estimated $1.1 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\ude80 The deficit will skyrocket by $3.3 trillion<\/a>, stoking inflation and potentially causing an economic crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udfedAnd combined with Trump\u2019s reckless trade war, businesses have already<\/em> lost $56 billion<\/a> in the six months Trump has been in office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
