In response to House Republicans\u2019 cancellation of key votes before the August recess due to disagreements about the release of the Epstein Files, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans are literally shutting down the House floor and getting ready to go on vacation early just to weasel out of releasing the Epstein files. While the American people elected leaders to fight for law and order and do their damn jobs, Republicans are bending the knee to Donald Trump and protecting an infamous sex trafficker. Make no mistake: Americans will remember this lack of transparency and cowardly act at the ballot box.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: House Republicans are canceling several votes before the August recess to avoid Democrats\u2019 legislation on releasing the Epstein files. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cHouse Republicans will scrap several votes this week as internal party drama over Jeffrey Epstein derails a key committee that handles legislation on its way to the floor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe House Rules Committee came to a standstill Monday night as GOP leaders struggled to contain rank-and-file Republicans and their Democratic allies clamoring for a floor vote to compel the publication of materials related to the late disgraced financier and convicted sex offender. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat means House members will depart for August recess at the week\u2019s end without being able to vote on legislation that would not otherwise be able to pass on the chamber floor with a simple majority vote,<\/strong> including an immigration-related bill that would increase penalties for individuals who enter the country illegally and a water-permitting measure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even as their base revolts, the GOP has already voted against releasing the files. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c@RepMGS is going to offer a motion that will trigger an up or down vote on @RepRoKhanna\u2019s amendment to preserve and release records related to Jeffrey Epstein.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

POLLING: As Trump and Republicans scramble to change the narrative, Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of his handling of the Epstein files. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rasmussen Poll<\/a>: \u201cRoughly two-thirds of every political category – 68% of Democrats, 66% of Republicans and 69% of unaffiliated voters – reject the idea that the Epstein case is closed<\/strong> and instead believe that there are dozens of powerful and wealthy offenders who need to face justice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN Poll<\/a>: \u201cAmericans are broadly dissatisfied with how much Epstein info the government has released.<\/strong> \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reuters<\/a>: \u201cMost Americans think President Donald Trump\u2019s administration is hiding information about accused sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein<\/strong> and give it poor marks on the issue after pledging to make public documents in the case, a Reuters\/Ipsos poll found. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
