As we reach the 200th day of Donald Trump\u2019s presidency, his second term is defined by broken promises. Whether it\u2019s his promise to lower costs on Day One, protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, or finally release the Epstein Files \u2014 it\u2019s clear Trump has zero plans to follow through on his campaign promises. Instead, he\u2019s throwing the people who helped get him elected under the bus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Donald Trump\u2019s 200th day in office, <\/em>DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement<\/em><\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump made his name as a scammer and a con artist \u2014 and now he\u2019s looking to pull the same tricks on the American people. Trump promised to lower costs on Day One, yet inflation continues to rise while the job market falls apart. He vowed to release the Epstein files, but instead, he\u2019s trying to cover up the truth and protect himself and his rich friends. He promised to protect Medicare and Medicaid, and then turned around and directed the largest cut to health care in history. He\u2019s ignoring the Constitution and cowardly ordering rigged congressional maps in a desperate attempt to stave off a midterm meltdown. Like any other two-bit hustler, Trump made big promises and failed to deliver, while he and his cronies pull off grift after grift at the expense of the American people.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s second term has been nothing but one broken promise after another. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump<\/a> promised to release the Epstein files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> After finding out his name was in the files<\/a>, Trump changed course. His administration still won\u2019t release the Epstein files. Now, he\u2019s even doing favors<\/a> for Epstein\u2019s accomplice and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump promised to lower prices on Day One<\/a>, end inflation<\/a>, and \u201cmake America affordable again<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> In reality, inflation<\/a> has accelerated and prices have spiked<\/a> on everything from groceries to gas \u2014 largely due to Trump\u2019s reckless trade war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump repeatedly promised<\/a> that he wouldn\u2019t touch Medicaid or Medicare \u2014 he even said he would veto<\/a> his own budget bill if it included cuts to Medicaid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> Trump signed the largest health care cut in history, costing 17 million<\/a> Americans health care and raising Medicare Part D<\/a> costs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump promised he would protect<\/a> Social Security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> Trump\u2019s own Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted that Trump\u2019s \u201cOne, Big, Beautiful Bill\u201d is a \u201cbackdoor for privatizing Social Security,\u201d<\/a> after Trump stacked the Social Security Administration with incompetent leadership<\/a>, and Shadow President Elon Musk gutted<\/a> the agency<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE: <\/strong>Trump promised<\/a> to stand with working people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget is the largest wealth transfer <\/a>from low-income and middle-income Americans to the ultra-wealthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump promised to reduce or even eliminate the national debt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN: <\/strong>Instead, Trump\u2019s unaffordable budget will add over $3 trillion<\/a> to the national debt over the next decade.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE: <\/strong>Trump promised to protect and expand in vitro fertilization<\/a> access and make treatment cheaper through government assistance and rules requiring insurance companies to cover treatment for it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN: <\/strong>Trump\u2019s administration has no plan to<\/a> fund or require health insurers to cover IVF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES MADE:<\/strong> Trump vowed that he would get the U.S. out of \u201cforever wars,\u201d<\/a> repeatedly said he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours<\/a> of returning to office, and said<\/a> he would end the war in Gaza and bring peace to the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROMISES BROKEN:<\/strong> Trump has been unable to broker deals in Ukraine and Gaza<\/a> while death tolls grow. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
