As Republicans face massive backlash during the August recess from the voters they betrayed by passing Trump\u2019s billionaires-first budget,<\/em> DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmericans aren\u2019t buying the sham Republicans are trying to sell about Donald Trump\u2019s Big Budget Betrayal. No amount of spin will change the fact that Republicans voted for sweeping cuts to their constituents\u2019 health care in order to gift billionaires massive tax handouts. Voters are mad as hell at Republicans, and Democrats will ensure their voices are heard at the ballot box.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a cowardly move, Rep. Nancy Mace kicked out attendees at her supposed \u201ctown hall,\u201d which was really a gubernatorial event to jockey for Donald Trump\u2019s support. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cMace touts ties to Trump, jockeys for endorsement in South Carolina governor\u2019s race in campaign-style town hall\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julie Tsirkin, NBC News<\/a>: \u201cRep Nancy Mace, holding her 1st town hall since announcing her run for Governor (and one of her only town halls this year), says she will \u2018walk into every lions den\u2019 and talk to anyone<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe event is ticketed (free) but those who aren\u2019t supportive of Mace are being asked to leave\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raw Story<\/a>: \u201cThe police were on hand for the event, but it was Mace’s staff who removed anyone who was even suspected of being anti-Trump or even independents and Democrats.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Mace’s team started kicking out anybody who was visibly going to be against her message.\u2019 <\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018One woman, Cathy Hunt, who I spoke to, she’s an independent. She voted for Trump at one point,\u2019 Tsirkin said. \u2018She said, though, that she left because she didn’t applaud at something that Mace said, getting eyes and jeers from the crowd around her and she didn’t feel comfortable. <\/strong>One woman asking her what she’s doing there.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Republican Rep. French Hill was met with chants of \u201cvote him out\u201d at a town hall held in his district.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also this week, Rep. Mike Flood faced heckles and boos at his town hall after he voted for Trump\u2019s billionaire-first budget.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRepresentative Mike Flood, Republican of Nebraska, was not even 30 seconds into his prepared introduction at a town hall in Lincoln on Monday evening when the booing and the jeering began. Then it didn\u2019t let up for over an hour.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018There\u2019s been a lot of misinformation out there about the bill,\u2019 Mr. Flood told a crowd of more than 700 people gathered in a downtown recital hall, referring to President Trump\u2019s sweeping domestic policy legislation that significantly cuts Medicaid, food benefits and other programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018You are a liar!\u2019 multiple people shouted back. \u2018Liar! Liar!\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn response, the packed auditorium erupted in a chant of \u2018Tax the rich,\u2019 and Mr. Flood finally had to pause his slides. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
