Across the country, dozens of Republican lawmakers received massive backlash over August recess from their angry constituents after they threw Americans under the bus to pass Trump\u2019s billionaires-first budget. In response, <\/em>DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans are finding out the hard way that they can\u2019t hide from the fury they created when they put billionaires over their own constituents. At town halls across the country, Americans are letting Trump\u2019s congressional lackeys know there will be electoral consequences for ripping away families\u2019 health care and food assistance to line the pockets of billionaires.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ohio, Rep. Warren Davidson\u2019s town hall turned hostile as angry constituents greeted the representative with \u201cboos and shouts.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cincinnati Enquirer<\/a>: \u201cOver 500 people gathered in a middle school auditorium in rural Trenton, Ohio\u2026 to hear from Davidson, a Republican who represents Ohio’s 8th Congressional District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe event began with a prayer, led by an Edgewood High School senior, and the Pledge of Allegiance. The crowd raised their voices on the phrase \u2018liberty and justice for all,\u2019 echoing the word \u2018all\u2019 loudly just before the congressman was introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDavidson began the town hall with an update on his activities in Congress, and when he said the phrase \u2018illegal aliens\u2019 just a few minutes in, the crowd erupted with boos and shouts of \u2018don’t lie.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WLWT<\/a>: \u201cMany members of the audience screamed, heckled and booed at Davidson for the entire hour.<\/strong> At one point, he shushed them and compared them to middle schoolers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Alabama, Rep. Barry Moore was drowned out by boos and had to flee out the back door after defending Trump\u2019s disastrous agenda that puts working Alabamians last. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AL.com<\/a>: \u201cRepublican Alabama congressman running for Senate booed at town hall, leaves out the back\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cU.S. Rep. Barry Moore faced a hostile crowd Wednesday night at Daphne City Hall, drawing boos and cries of \u2018shame!\u2019 as he defended President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda and his own record.<\/strong> \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMoore\u2019s answered questions from audience members, a majority of whom were clearly opposed to the Trump administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018The Big Beautiful Bill was the Trump tax cuts,\u2019 Moore said in response to a question about whether Congress was going to \u2018legislate the tax on people.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis answer drew an immediate smattering of boos.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Missouri, Rep. Mark Alford was subject to \u201cjeers and shouts\u201d from a crowd of angry constituents. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KOMU<\/a>: \u201cMid-Missourians make their voices heard in heated town hall with Mark Alford\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe night was filled with shouting, applause, and displeasure as Alford spoke on political issues such as Medicaid, poverty, gun reform, international government and redistricting. Alford also fielded questions from the crowd surrounding his relationship with President Donald Trump, which caused some of the most emotional reactions of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018They’re probably not going to stand up and sing my praises tonight,\u2019 Alford said before the event began. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOften times, Alford’s responses generated jeers and shouts from the crowd, with some repeating \u2018shame\u2019 and one calling him a \u2018liar.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I just don’t think you’ve had an answer for anything tonight,\u2019 one attendee from the crowd said during the final moments of the town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I’m tired of your complacency,\u2019 another added during the session.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Oklahoma, Rep. Josh Brecheen, too afraid to take the heat from his own constituents, only took a few hurried questions before ending his \u201ctown hall.\u201d  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

@cooterdwayne on X<\/a>: I went to Congressman Brecheen’s “Town Hall” in Claremore today. It turned out to be an hour-long rapid presentation on the Big Bad Bill with time for only a few hurried audience questions before he rushed off. That’s not really a town hall. @RepBrecheen We still want a real town hall where you listen to us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

@sarvhgray on X<\/a>: It\u2019s not a town hall when you yap at a captive audience for 50 minutes and then only allow 4 people to ask a one-minute question (which you don\u2019t answer)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Michigan, Rep. Tim Walberg avoided many constituents\u2019 concerns about the devastating impacts of Trump\u2019s budget disaster during a town hall event. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WNDU<\/a>: \u201cRep. Tim Walberg faces backlash from residents at heated town hall in Dowagiac\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WSBT<\/a>: \u201cWalberg started the meeting saying he would answer the voter\u2019s questions, but they might not agree with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd the crowd often disagreed; their roars filled the room with NOs. \u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne issue not brought up, but a major concern for voters at a previous town hall, was the Big Beautiful Bill’s impact on local healthcare, as some worry about the future of Dowagiac Hospital. \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStill, after an hour with the representative, many questions remained unanswered.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd some share that they did not feel heard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018So, you know, he gave his answer, but quite frankly, I don’t think he showed that he really understood the issues for voters,\u2019 <\/strong>said Ken Neumann, town hall attendee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Iowa, Rep. Ashley Hinson was called out by her constituents fed up with her support of Trump\u2019s billionaires-first budget. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Bridge on X<\/a>: \u201cLess than 10 minutes into #IA02 Rep. Ashley Hinson\u2019s town hall and she\u2019s already getting called out for lying <\/strong>\u2014 proof that Republicans are failing to sell their Big Ugly law that guts health care to give tax breaks to billionaires.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At his first town hall in eight years, California GOP Rep. Doug LaMalfa was drowned out by angry constituents frustrated about Trump\u2019s disastrous agenda. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnother Republican lawmaker has faced a cacophony of boos and jeers<\/strong> when coming face-to-face with the general public to defend President Donald Trump\u2019s legislative agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.) felt the wrath of constituents over the huge tax and spending bill,<\/strong> the trade war, and the crackdown on immigration when speaking during a town hall in Chico, California, on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTensions ran so high that LaMalfa, who was reportedly holding his first in-person forum in close to eight years, was repeatedly called a \u2018liar\u2019 when doing his utmost to justify the president\u2019s policies.<\/strong> \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLaMalfa was also drowned out by boos <\/strong>when delivering the standard Republican line about eliminating \u2018waste and fraud\u2019 to justify cutting Medicaid. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018You liar!\u2019 <\/strong>was one audible response among the dissonance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Wyoming, Rep. Harriet Hageman received \u201ca chorus of boos\u201d from constituents after spewing false rhetoric at a town hall meeting. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WyoFile<\/a>: \u201cWyoming crowd boos Hageman retort that protections against greenhouse gases based on \u2018false science\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWyoming\u2019s U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, responding to a question during a recent town hall event in Pinedale, said she is \u2018strongly in support of repealing the endangerment finding.\u2019 The landmark 2009 doctrine classified greenhouse gases as pollutants and legally obliged federal agencies to regulate their emissions under the Clean Air Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Republican congresswoman added, \u2018The endangerment finding is absolutely based upon false science.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA chorus of boos rose from the crowd assembled on July 29, along with guffaws and several people shouting, \u2018No!\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHageman continued over the outburst: \u2018CO2 [carbon dioxide] is not a pollutant. As far as the validity and the science that was the foundation for that, they cooked the books.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMany of her Sublette County constituents weren\u2019t having it. The booing continued, along with one person shouting, \u2018Lie, lie,\u2019 as Hageman pressed on.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In South Carolina, Rep. Nancy Mace kicked out attendees at her supposed \u201ctown hall,\u201d which was really a gubernatorial event to jockey for Donald Trump\u2019s support. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cMace touts ties to Trump, jockeys for endorsement in South Carolina governor\u2019s race in campaign-style town hall\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julie Tsirkin, NBC News<\/a>: \u201cRep Nancy Mace, holding her 1st town hall since announcing her run for Governor (and one of her only town halls this year), says she will \u2018walk into every lions den\u2019 and talk to anyone<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe event is ticketed (free) but those who aren\u2019t supportive of Mace are being asked to leave\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raw Story<\/a>: \u201cThe police were on hand for the event, but it was Mace’s staff who removed anyone who was even suspected of being anti-Trump or even independents and Democrats.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Mace’s team started kicking out anybody who was visibly going to be against her message.\u2019 <\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018One woman, Cathy Hunt, who I spoke to, she’s an independent. She voted for Trump at one point,\u2019 Tsirkin said. \u2018She said, though, that she left because she didn’t applaud at something that Mace said, getting eyes and jeers from the crowd around her and she didn’t feel comfortable. <\/strong>One woman asking her what she’s doing there.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Arkansas, Rep. French Hill was met with chants of \u201cvote him out\u201d at a town hall held in his district.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHill hosted a closed door Q & A session this morning\u2014 and folks were lined up outside to let Hill know how they really feel \ud83d\udc40 Of course, Hill\u2019s team sent the police to stop them\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nebraska, Rep. Mike Flood\u2019s town hall erupted in heckles and boos in response to Flood\u2019s support for Trump\u2019s billionaires-first budget.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRepresentative Mike Flood, Republican of Nebraska, was not even 30 seconds into his prepared introduction at a town hall in Lincoln on Monday evening when the booing and the jeering began. Then it didn\u2019t let up for over an hour.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018There\u2019s been a lot of misinformation out there about the bill,\u2019 Mr. Flood told a crowd of more than 700 people gathered in a downtown recital hall, referring to President Trump\u2019s sweeping domestic policy legislation that significantly cuts Medicaid, food benefits and other programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018You are a liar!\u2019 multiple people shouted back. \u2018Liar! Liar!\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn response, the packed auditorium erupted in a chant of \u2018Tax the rich,\u2019 and Mr. Flood finally had to pause his slides. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Flood admitted to voters earlier this summer at a town hall that he had not read the entire bill before voting to pass it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In New York, Rep. Elise Stefanik was heckled relentlessly at a memorial event \u2014 one of the few opportunities for her constituents to meet her in person. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
