Why it matters: <strong>It would hurt low-income and disabled Americans at a time when inflation is driving up the cost of food and shelter; and further cuts to Medicaid and food benefits are on tap<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTrump promised to lower costs on Day One. Instead, he has raised costs, gutted health care, and made life more difficult for countless families. As if kicking millions off Medicaid and food assistance wasn\u2019t cruel enough, now Trump is implementing plans to gut or take away disability resources from hundreds of thousands of Americans. While Trump and Republicans continue to betray the American people with their billionaire-first agenda, Democrats have real plans to lower costs, and we will continue fighting to actually deliver for working families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget: This is all part of a concerted effort by the Trump administration to take from the poor to give to the rich.
